When you jailbreak a 3DS (or whatever the term is), is there any restriction on what games you can play? I read that games that are only on the eShop won't run.

so noob Q: can i do a system transfer without a nintendo ID?

reason: want to help mod a friends 3ds, they sadly got it on 11.0 and its a new 3ds. I have a modded one and its an Old XL. i have 2 seperate, my CFW (still using aureinand) and my sysnand at 9.2.
Q again: could I create/use a bare CFW emunand, and do the dsi exploit to get a cfw onto his?

Hi all,

Thank you very much everyone for the help and guidance I have been reading up on setting up my first CFW! Finally made an account on here to start contributing myself.

I have installed A9LH using Plailect's recent 3 step guide and have Luma3DS 6.1 installed as well. I am currently using a Japanese New 3DS and have Hourglass9 mapped to my Start button. I installed the CFW using a brand new system and do not have a NNID/Eshop account linked to it.

My problem, which I hope someone could please help me out with, is that when I try to run a SNES VC cia that I installed through FBI, it will load with a black top screen and the bottom screen has the VC screen showing. This will last for a couple of seconds and then I am booted back to the home screen with an error. When I close the error screen, my system restarts normally.

I have the region free option in Luma3DS checked and I received the SNES VC cia from that one site. I assumed that it was only a matter of installing the cia and that would be it. If it helps, the banners do not load, but I am ok with not having them.

If I am missing any steps, can someone help point me in the right direction please?

Thank you!
I don't think region locked snes vc cia can be play manually. You need to use a region free launcher, like HANS.

A1: Yes, you can transfer without the need for a nnid
A2: Yes, if you don't have a9lh, you probably would use emunand anyways.

Hey Guys

Is there a way for CTRbootmanager to automatically open Luma3ds, like, set the timer 0 and override the timer so I can open Homebrew Launcher and rxTools? CTRbootmanager is very useful but I don't want to go through the manager every time I want to load Emunand.
Thanks

Maybe you got a bad cia. Try to download the same cia through Freeshop and see if happens the same.

But, if you want to play SNES games, you should go with emulators: blargSNES or SNES9x.

Only restriction is the size of the (micro)SD card you have on the console.

eShop games DO RUN and you can get them all with Freeshop.

I am researching the guide, preparing to start. Just purchased my n3ds today. It's on 10.7.

I note in Step 2, the instructions refer in the 9.2.0 downgrade section, "prep work", to a folder on the root of the sd card, /3ds/. All contents of the Decrypt9WIP and sysDownloader zips are to be copied to this /3ds/ folder.

My SD card, right out of the box, has no such folder. The main folder is /Nintendo 3DS/, and all content is contained within it. Is the intention that I create the /3ds/ folder, or will it have already been created automatically during Step 1?

No big deal, just want to understand the process fully before I begin. The instructions do tell me to create a /files9/ folder, but it never instructs to create a /3ds/ folder.

I am really newbie, in fact this is the first time I has a Nintendo handheld. I have a new 3ds with 10.7 fw. Should I paid $15 for cfw install service or can I installed it myself? What the probability of bricking my 3ds and can I unbrick it?

You can do it yourself, but it depends what your time is worth. If you're a kid that gets $2/week pocket money, much better to do it yourself. If you're a working professional earning $50/hour with no spare time, you'd definitely pay for it.

If you do decide to do it, it's not too hard, doesn't take too long (two hours max but more likely abut 45 minutes) and there's loads of people willing to help if you get stuck :-)
The guide is here: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki

Thank you very much, I'm not a kid but I'm not very rich either, my wages is $125 a month. I think I should jjust tried it myself. By the way, the caution in the first page of pialect really scared me. If I somehow bricked it, can I unbricked it?

I am up to section 4 of this guide https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-3-(arm9loaderhax)

But now after holding select and setting the options for luma3ds i got an error about old unsupported NAND, it says in the guide that is normal, ok. But I cant continue with the guide cause thats all i get , when it tells me to hold start to go into Hourglass9 i just get the same error. How to fix? Thanks

Yep, do it yourself, $15 is a lot for you!
You won't brick it if you follow the instructions precisely. Ask any questions if you're not sure what to do! Good luck!

Hi everyone,

looking for a software that could help me manage my 3DS SD card (games, saves) on my PC, does such thing exist? cause I have no idea what those folders' numbers are exactly.

Sometimes, when I open the lid to wake the console from standby, I find that the both screens are black and it does not react to anything, so I have to restart it. Does anyone have any idea why is this happening? I had my a9lh New 3DS on the latest SysNAND for a month or so. Been switching from hourly to stable Luma all the time, either having latest stable / hourly.
Can’t really say if this happened when I closed the lid in-game, this time it happened when I closed the lid when a homebrew was open. The issue is not that critical since it happens so rarely, but it drives my perfectionism nuts.

Hello, what the difference between no browser and browser method of part 1 in plailect guide? Which one is simpler/easier?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Instructions
  1. Copy the contents of the starter folder in starter.zip to the root of your SD card, then put the SD card back into your 3DS
  2. Open the theme menu, change your theme to any other theme, then switch back. This will initialize the theme data and is required
  3. Launch the Settings application
  4. Change the date to January 1, 2000
  5. Change the time to 00:00
  6. Launch the browser, then open the browser settings as fast as possible
  7. Scroll to the bottom and Initialize Savedata (it also may be called Clear All Save Data) as fast as possible
  8. Navigate to http://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax_auto.php
    • You can also load the page by scanning the following QR code (press (L + R) on the home menu, then tap the QR icon on the bottom screen)

So, I'm on ofw 10.7, that's mean I don't have to do step 3-7 right?

Yes, you don't have to do that part.
The difference is that you use an exploit game instead of the browser, if you don't have one. The browser version means you don't have to buy anything, so that's preferable.

Thanks. So, I continue to read the guide and it said before tried to downgrading, I need to do a system format first. How to do this and did I do the system format after homebrew launcher of step 1 or before it? Sorry if this is sound so dumb, I don't want to bricked my n3ds.
