I've read that you can transfer VC channels from a softmodded Wii to Wii U with no problems (although the homebrew channel and related homebrew channels won't be transferred) However I couldn't find an answer to what happens if you have the homebrew channel installed on the vWii, prior to the transfer? I have the homebrew channel on the vWii on my Wii U, I haven't used it for anything yet, but will it affect the transfer of the VC titles from my softmodded Wii? Most of the channels were WADs I installed.

Also, does anyone know if WAD installed channels work with the upgrade you can pay for to transfer them from the vWii the Wii U, just out of curiosity? Many thanks.

Honestly this is the first I've heard of this. System transfer was introduced with the Wii U and I know for a fact that doesn't work with vwii. I don't know if you're talking about using some homebrew app or what.

Wii->vWii system transfer is a thing, and always has been. On vWii the system transfer app comes preinstalled and on Wii it has to be downloaded from the Shop Channel I believe.

Hmm, I don't know what would happen. Just in case he wasn't clear and someone else has an answer, he currently has the Homebrew Channel on his vWii, and wants to transfer Virtual Console titles from a softmodded regular Wii to the vWii using the transfer tool on the vWii provided by Nintendo. Will this delete his Homebrew Channel or otherwise damage his vWii?

Oh yeah that's right. My bad. I've never tried it before. Why not just delete the homebrew channel and try? It's pretty easy with one of the game exploits to put it back.

The other issue is that vwii uses different cios's and different channel forwarders. You might be taking a big risk.

Check with @CJB100 and see what he thinks.

I know you can transfer softmodded Wii data to the vWii, but the fact that you already have the HBC on the vWii is what worries me. Even if you uninstall HBC, I'm not certain if there are any modified IOS that would cause issues? I'm sure someone else here either knows or has attempted this before and can answer.

So no need for him to uninstall HBC, just do the transfer, he should be ok?

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll consider my options, and potentially go the route of removing the HBC from my vWii and then seeing how the transfer goes. I'll post back in here if I go through with it so then there's a record of the results. Thanks again.

Also sorry if the wording was confusing in my original post, I couldn't quite get what I wanted to say

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
