Hacking Gateway 3ds: A9LH, Downgrade, Release Planned on May 22nd

So, basically exactly like the current process (Without some of the safety backups)?

I was expecting more flash, though I must assume the menus are littered with dragons.

I'm more interested in the !!!! DELETE NINTENDO 3DS FOLDER !!!! step, I'm assuming it's theme stuff, but wouldn't it be easier to just take the SD card out?

Okay so nothing new in downgrader this is a really Basic version of @Plailect s guide.


How to setup (O3DS): (WE HAVE IDENTIFIED AN ISSUE WITH 9.x -> 2.x file sets, please use TM to first upgrade to 10.x before attempting to go down to 2.x on O3DS)
This was a known issue already mentioned in guide.

* Make sure you have WiFi configured and working
Already known and required in guide
* Boot into GATEWAY 3DS SYSmode (Force GW Menu by holding down L, hold B while pressing A, then accept )
* Bring up the OSD, select GATEWAY Time Machine, select 2.x downgrade
* Boot GW_TIMEMACHINE.3DSX using your favourite homebrew entrypoint
* Launch GATEWAY Time Machine, select 2.x downgrade
Directly downgrading sysnand instead of emunand Plailects guide doesnt do this just incase it fails
if gateways one fails GG no Rei
* !!! DELETE “Nintendo 3DS” folder from console SD card !!!
Remove SD card on boot in plails guide, same result
* Boot your N3DS into 2.x
* Open up web browser and surf to http://go.gateway-3ds.com/
Open web browser run arm11.bin url in guide same thing
* Go to A9LH Installer
Seems familiar
* A9LH will be installed & Sys nand restored via nand.bin
Very familiar
* Go to A9LH Installer any time here after to set up a fresh format of emunand from nand.bin
* Run Format Emunand if nand.bin is lost. ( fresh SD card only needs Launcher.dat to recover )

* Your (bricked) 2.x emuNAND will be transferred to your sysNAND
* !!! DELETE “Nintendo 3DS” folder from console SD card !!!
* Boot your N3DS into 2.x
* Open up web browser and surf to http://go.gateway-3ds.com/
* Go to A9LH Installer
* Your NAND.BIN will be restored to SysNAND and A9LH will be installed
* Return to A9LH Installer here after to to restore your emunand partition from nand.bin
* Run Format Emunand if nand.bin is lost. ( fresh SD card only needs Launcher.dat to recover )

Okay guys nothing to see here just Gateway stealing Plails Guide, Skipping Steps that were put in there for safety measures for O3DS and also just copying the current tools.

Man I wish I got paid for this

What do we expect from a company that had delays Zipping folders for beta testers.

I suspect that the true delay was them trying to translate Plails guide and copy software without it being so obvious

It would. I guess changing that step makes the guides different enough. Do like the "We have identified..." warning at the start, given that's an issue that was identified well before Gateway got around to trying...

Anyway, hopefully someone can report back on what the a9lh implementation is like. Does it use standard payloads? Screen-init or no?

Downgrade packs aren't unique. The 500 megabytes is probably they have 1 downgrade pack with every firmware needed in it.

Only thing I'm curious of is if the payload can be used on a system already hacked using the open alternatives. Preferably as a Luma chain loaded payload. For the very rare times I want to dust off my old Gateway.

Well, each firmware pack is about 50 megs iirc, so there's the 9.2 and 2.1 firmware in there and the different regions that would probably explain the 500 megs.
