Hacking Gateway 3ds: A9LH, Downgrade, Release Planned on May 22nd

this is really nice, how would those with updated sysNAND only be able to use the GW booting with A9LH ?

for example i have no emuNAND and am running updated sysNAND with Luma CFW.

would the gw run like luma does ? and would the card still be required? (my gw red card is sleeping).

They told me today most beta testers will get it by tonight (hopefully), they are packing each beta individually and it's taking longer than expected. Maybe they're putting unique files in each to see who leaks them?

sounds good, although i dont actually think i will be on their beta list just because i haven't bothered messaging about it this time so idk if they will just be sharing with people who have pestered them recently

lol, I didn't though. They replied to a mail i sent them in 2014 about the bug reports i gave them for 2.x and said hey we're having a beta, you want in? I said sure.

oh no i wasnt implying you had been pestering them i just meant they have probably had a lot of requests, i may have had a email too i may have just missed it as i took part in their 2.1 beta's and another more recent one but i forget when, i know one was for multirom though

yes but you don't need one to beta test for them. There are 2 rounds, one that was supposed to start yesterday and the other around Thursday I think. Those without hardmods would get the second trial run before official release.

I was wondering why they would quote a release date when testing hasn't even finished.
Wish they would just make it an open beta. Let's get this over with.

They want brick code as a feature, not as an accident. So they can't just make an open beta and see who bricks and how.

What I don't understand though is why they need to release all the things at once. Why can't they just release an arm9loaderhax.bin first, then 6 months later their PlaiSysUpdater and OTPHelper forks ? This way, people who already switched from GW to a9lh can enjoy their GW again, people who were hesitating can switch too, and the remaining paranoid people who trust GW only can wait, but only them will wait...

I think the same, but last weeks the project was already on Alpha Testing, GaryOPA told a lot about it... Like the Beta announcement being posposed because two problems found needed fixing and it took time.

Dont think there are too much bugs out there.

Plus, I doubt it. They used a 3dsx format compatible with menuhax for their 3dsx so I really don't think they'll go the incompatible route this time.

Probably it will be just a plaisysupdater and a plailect's guide with a dragon theme. You know usual stuff but with a 80$ price tag.
So nothing new just a rubbish and unnecessary clone

I mean, I had my 80 dollar price tag when CFW was a dream and only worked on 4.5. So it's no skin off my nose. I got a full year of GW before it became obsolete. But yea, I have not had a real reason to even bother with it and it just seemed like a lot of work before. If this makes it easier I'll consider.

Had my Gateway when the time the only cfw available can only play 4.5 firmware and below. Also bought it for $55.
I'm happy with menuhax but if they really deliver on their Time Machine thing and make a9lh installation seem like peanuts, then that's great. Just happy that there will still be some contribution to the community no matter how late or less significant.
