I was following this guide https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-3-(RedNAND) and i got as far as the end of part 3. But the rest of it is getting a little too complicated and a little risky. Is there anyway i can restore my rednand back to my sysnand?

I really don't wanna brick it. Rather just continue going with my normal N3DS....sorry if its a bit of a noob question. CakesFW keeps crashing so i can't even boot into rednand, and OoThax fails to launch every now and then. I'm probably too dumb to keep going forward.

the rednand is seperate from your sysnand.. so as far as i know you can't restore the emulated system back to your physical system. all you have to do really is just format your sdcard then pop it back in your n3ds & update your sysnand (if you really want to give up)

According to Plailect's guide, i need to open homebrew using my favorite entry point. I own a v10.7 old 3ds. Does this mean i need to use oot3d every time to enter HBL?

And also in part 4 (getting otp) section 1 (prep work)
28. Reinsert your sd card into your 3ds, press start and right at the same time to reboot, then boot your 3ds into RedNAND using any CFW.

Can anyone explain this in a easy sentence? I didn't understand from "press start" part.

And in Section 3 and 4 in OTP
The steps are being done in RedNAND ryt? Just want to confirm.

it took a while for cakeFW to boot for me, i think the most was about 5 tries in a row, i found (might be coincidence) was to let it sit for a while at the hblauncher before opening cakesFW.. i believe you would lose all your games & saves? i never had to do it so im really unsure how the saves work.. i get the feeling that they didn't make the 3ds to have internal memory big enough to even hold save files (not sure on that either)

Someone suggested I use decrypt9 to make a backup of my rednand/emunand, then restore it to sysnand. That worked. I'ma take 5 from messing with my n3ds for awhile. Thanks for taking a moment to respond

personally speaking, i had menuhax installed until the end of part 5.. i actually had it installed until i wanted to use custom themes, then i removed it completely.. i recommend leaving it installed until the end of part 5 as well to save some hassle

i don't have it on my sdcard so i can't tell.. but i just followed the guide as much as possible.. if you downgraded to 2.1.0 , you should have no problem accessing the link

I just modified my 3ds XL's birth date (firmware 4.4) and from there it stopped recognizing my gateway mode (does not boot gateway mode when clicking nds profile).
I've tried to look for solutions and most of them result in "you have to reinstall your gateway setup".
My issue is that I don't have my blue card with me for the time being and I'm wondering if there's a way to fix this without needing a blue card?

Trying to setup my 2ds in the meantime - I made a backup of my sysNAND and went gw mode fine, but have no emunand. I know I need to select "format emunand" from the website menu, but will it delete my gamesaves/games themselves or will it only delete eshop related stuff like game patches?

go to that iso site download the 4.x mset for your o3ds (make sure you get the region correct) and install it to sysnand then your profile hack will work again (you may need to reinstall the ds profile hack. . . you dont need your bluecard to do this but it makes reinstalling the ds profile hack easier)

i believe gateway calls it "gateway classic mode" or something like that . . .

and install it to sysnand then your profile hack will work again

to install it in sysnand you will need a .cia installer (fbi/bigbluemenu/devmenu/ect)

the ds profile hack is a method of launching cfw (including gateway) it is usually installed via a ds mode flashcard (r4/gateway's bluecard/ect)
also . . . your goal

oh yeah sorry missed that part. . . . yup everything will be lost so . . . use a pc to backup the sd card (just drag and drop the whole sd card contents to somewhere safe) and put the files back on the sd after you format emunand

Would that be the internal Sd card that you put inside your handheld or the microsd you put in your gateway cartridge? Or both ? Need to know what I should back up
