You dont need administrator access, why dont you have administrator rights? Is that a laptop you hire? Or does it actually belong to you

I'm in high school and am pretty much borrowing this from August to May for like $40 overall. I'm allowed to do anything on it as long as I'm not installing an application they don't like (Steam, for example) or getting past school wifi limits. I've been trying to build a bunch of stuff, so far the only thing I've been able to build is Homebrew. (brew.sh)

Also your emulator list is a bit dated, for starters we have a Playstation emulator now.
The thread as a whole hasn't been updated for forever. The last update was 29 pages ago, nobody's touched it since then.

If a DS loader is ever added, it'd probably a good suggestion to find some way to implement a NoSSL patch to it for official carts for those who want to use the altwfc servers.

But yea, a DS loader/target would be lovely, especially for people who want to pull the save data out of their official pokemon carts and edit them and play them for nostalgia (Pokemon hgss with any shiny pokemon following -drools-).

Can we get either homebrew, a PC program, or a feature in a tool like this to edit the AC:NL Town Pass Card image? I tried to do it myself by replacing the built-in JPG code with my own, and (without importing it into the game) the online tool linked above just showed a broken image icon for my image.

I know it can be done. I couldn't find any good examples on Google Images, but it's something along the lines of this:

H6DNS6A.jpg

So will anyone be up to it?

Let's see here...
A 3DS to Wii U connector to allow you to use it as a GamePad?
If not, just a homebrew Smash Controller?
DS, or maybe even 3DS download play demo/Pokemon event/etc distribution?
A dedicated image viewer, with zooming in/out support? WiiXplorer could do that.
BRSTM/BCSTM music player (to have looping music)?
LovePotion port of Stabyourself's game Order of Twilight? It's not nearly as complex as, say, mari0.
NES or GB emulator with 3D support?
A o3DS-usable GBA emulator? If we can run Genesis nearly optimized, and SNES optimized, full speed on o3DS, maybe someone like Staplebutter can take up an optimized GBA emulator.
A Riivolution-esque program?

Also, what's stopping someone from, say, decompiling a 3DS ROM/CIA, then recompiling it in a .3dsx homebrew format?

My guess is that it's a combination of two things:
  1. That the games are probably encrypted or done in such a way that makes that impossible or difficult.
  2. If it is possible for homebrewers, those who would be intelligent enough to do it wouldn't, as it would probably go against some morales on the homebrew scene.

Well, you can decrypt 3DS games, but I have no idea if they're either easily rebuildable on a 3DSX.

And I doubt it's up to morales - people make things like save editors, emulators, and CIA installers.

Installing CIA roms is already potential piracy; being able to give that to 9.3+ homebrewers is broadening the scope, so by not rebuilding it into a 3DSX you intentionally bottleneck the piracy damage.

That's the thing - this "morale" thing is all nonsense. Hacking online and ruining other's experiences is way worse than "free games".
Emulators take away sales of Virtual Console and arguably SEGA's 3D Classics too.
And piracy damage hardly matters anyways, pirates still pirate either way (see emulators)

It doesn't matter as the homebrewers don't disclose certain things if they may be used for piracy. Look at 9.0 - 9.2 Kernel; that was only found because it was leaked. It's assumed although not confirmed that smea and yellows8 have a 9.3+ kernel hack but are not disclosing it for that reason.

Also it's more about the fact that 3DS games could be pirated. There's not much stopping any old homebrewer from making or porting an emulator anyway, but you can stop the above mentioned to lessen 3DS damaged sales.

2eyeguy aka Carl Kenner has released PSP emulator for VR.

Its called PPSSPP VR naturally.

https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/3p5a5v/ppsspp_vr_playstation_portable_emulator/

The beautiful thing is that it can potentially render games in stereoscopic 3D.

Now ... you know where this logic is going .... 3DS with 3D PSP game emulation. :toot:

PSP fans are ecstatic about the beta on PC.

Now we need to port to 3DS.

Why not asking a PS4 emulator with stereoscopic 3D and internal 4k upscaler for textures?
