First of all, I would like to apologize if this has been asked elsewhere or that this is the wrong place to post such things.

Before I get ahead of myself, allow me to explain my intentions/plans. I want to get into making homebrew for the 3DS, mostly making applications and stuff that I wish were around but aren't. However, I have no idea where to start. I do know the basics of coding and I have experience with code as I'm finishing up my AAS degree in Information Technology and will be continuing going to school to obtain my BAS degree in the same field. I decided to go into that detail to explain my background in regards to hardware and software.

The real problem is that I have no idea where to start nor do I know where to find any sort of documentation. Everything seems to be scattered all over the place and by the time I get inspired, I look at the scattered information and feel overwhelmed. I understand that this is still the early days with the 3DS.

As far as hardware goes, I have the dongle to transfer save files to OoT3D, a copy of OoT (I bought it literally as soon as it was out because I missed the N64 completely due to being in poverty at the time), a 3DS XL (9.9 US sysNAND) and n3DS XL (9.2 sysNAND and emuNAND).

So where should I start?

I noticed you didn't mention having an exploit ready per se. As far as exploits for running the homebrew go, you might as well go with Tubehax. It's quick and easy to set up, only requires the Youtube app, and takes less effort than OoThax. Actually, IIRC I don't think OoThax is even released yet.

Good luck and welcome to the scene!

He probably has a Gateway 3DS due to the N3DS EmuNAND?

The exploits I can use as an entry is basically limited to tubehax/ironhax for O3DS (I lack youtube on my n3DS and a .cia installer) and MSET/emunand for n3DS. And OoT.

But how did you setup EmuNAND on your N3DS? It's only avaible for gateway users as far as I know.
Certainly, GW's menu is really the only way to get emuNAND set up on n3ds, but that really doesn't require a GW red card anymore (though installing .cia files into an emuNAND without tubehax/ironhax does... grr). But accessing the emuNAND is completely different as there is reiNAND.
