That were suggestions. Someone still have to look in the code. You will not know the answer today, but in a few days, I think.

The fact that Sky suggested to use a CFW (which removes the sig checks) to play Fire Emblem If is more than enough proof.

There's no mention of that on their site. They haven't said anything yet as far as I can tell.
There is a reseller site that looks a lot like the sky site which you might be referring to but that isn't sky themselves.

Honestly nobody should consider buying a 3rd gen sky3ds. Instead you should just buy a new preowned O3DS on 9.2 or below.

Protocol != Interface
Process9 can add a second layer of crypto, verify that a cartridge know a private key... So much possibilities.

Protocol implies software interface, and this is certainly not a new interface. It's likely just one or two commands for handling a challenge and response (I still haven't had the time to fully investigate yet, I don't think anyone has.)

For those asking about dumps still being available - the 3DS has to ensure backwards compatibility of every single title all the way back to 1.0, no matter what. As such, gamecard reading is necessary to get the icon, banner, and exheader from a title. Since that's possible, it's consequently possible to dump an entire cartridge whether or not it uses this new verification system. (Even Secure4 games like the Binding of Isaac update show up on 1.0, as intended)

o3DS will go the way of Sky soon, within the next year I see all first party titles being n3ds exclusive.

There will only be a couple of games and thats it,
The 3ds is already at the end of its life, you can already see it with staggering noteable upcoming releases, none of which are n3ds exclusives

He's always cryptic and can be taken ether way though I think Smea has an anti-piracy bent to him so I think he's laughing at those who have a Sky3DS.

Considering his work leads to piracy I dunno.

If he was sure on the sky issue you would think he would leave his own comment instead of a sloppy tweet that looks like he's laughing at people that think they know what they're talking about.

theyre not always that fast and this is something that requires more effort than turning the console on. they might have to rewrite the disk writer and how the sd card is formatted or how their templates work and that's after they figure out whats going on. I would give them a couple weeks and see if they respond. even when gateway gets blocked or breaks it takes that team some time to issue a statement. these teams cant say anything until they know for sure whats going on.
