Tried to write 4-5 games just now and got this message:

"The file "*.3DS" have no resource data yet, please updata the template.txt"

I downloaded the template updated today and a couple of the games aren't THAT new, so I'm not sure what to do? I just can't play them until they're in the template?

I have made a 8 step tutorial on how to fix your issue :)

1) Sell 3DS
2) Buy 3DS with max fw of 9.2
3) Buy Gateway
4) Activate the Cubic Ninja exploit using the Sky3DS
5) Install MSET
6) Sell Sky3DS
7) ...?
8) Profit!
A free one : step 1 and 2,wait for pasta to have firmlaunch and emunand (1/2 month) and then profit

That was indeed sarcasm. Those on >9.2 fw just have to deal with any flaws the Sky3ds may have. Better than having nothing available to you though. :)

For games currently not supported, you'll just need to wait till they are.

I second this. Although I would have shortened it to just one step; buy a Gateway.

Okay, I have a serious reply: Sky3ds has a tutorial on their website showing how to get things added to the template. You just have to send them a small file and it'll be added within a few days, in my experience.

From http://www.sky3ds.com/faq.html

"Q: Could you please explain how template data is made so that I can make it myself ?
A: Please see the instructions here to build a new game file head info by yourself, and email us those "pre-file", we will process and add it into the new updated template file later."

Bless you, sir! Many thanks.

Why do they do that? Why can't they just give people the instructions to make the template themselves?

What do you mean? Like, if an individual screws up creating a template, they risk Nintendo finding out and, as you said, patching it? Like SKY covers their bases?

More like to prevent Chinese cloners doing their thang...

If Nintendo gets ahold of the program/algorithm/code whatever is used then they could possibly block sky with an update or whatever. As far as blocking clones, what about QQ? Unless it really isn't a clone and just rebranded by sky.

This is pure speculation on why they hold that information closely.

Nah, Nintendo can detect it AND block it. One of the guys involved with KARL3DS confirmed it (as did many other devs).

They just haven't done it, for whatever reason.

QQ is a Sky3DS with a different sticker. It uses the Sky3DS template, since they don't know (and no one knows) how to create one except for the Sky3DS team. It was definitely meant for cloners, not Nintendo.

Yes, we have known for a long time N can detect and block it. The suspicion is they can not block it reliably without other side effects to legitimate users. The bad press from that does not play so well.

yeah without knowing what the games are, nobody can really say, as it might be eshop rips or stuff like that.....in which case sky3ds wont be adding them to the template list as sky3ds can only play 1:1 retail card rips

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
