Hey all, so this is kind of a strange problem and I think I know how to handle it, but I want clarification here first. My friend has a 4.2 3DS that I used my blue Gateway card's exploit on and then the red card to load up emuNAND. I then separated the NANDs by reformatting sysNAND. I installed all the games via .cia files under emuNAND and advised him not to turn off his console or let it die (I put all apps he should avoid in a folder). I did this back in March and it worked until it died two weeks ago.

So I'm back home for the summer and I'm able to help him, but I forgot my blue card at school (and he played a DS game and wiped the exploit). So as of right now his sysNAND is at 4.2 and emuNAND is at like 9.3 or 9.4... Not fully updated. Since I don't have the blue card, I used the android app to boot him into emuNAND, but I screwed up and there was an internet connection so his sysNAND and emuNAND both have the update nag. So that's the backstory, and here are my questions...

1) Can I use the web exploit to boot into emuNAND and then go into system settings (and verify that it's on GW 9.x) and then simply update it? I am almost certain that this is 'yes' but I dunno if they have the latest launcher.dat since an earlier version wouldn't work.

2) Could I then remove the update nag under sysNAND by reformatting his sysNAND? And if that's the case, should I do that before or after I update emuNAND? Will I even be able to get back to emuNAND if I reformat sysNAND or would I have to install it all over again?

Question 2 is a bunch of questions, but they're related. Like I said, I think I know the answer to all of this and I believe that it'll work, but I want verification before I do something silly. Oh, I guess I do have another question.

3) How do you use the android app to use the web exploit offline? For some reason, it connected to the internet when I tried it which is what put me in this situation.

Thanks everyone!

You can get rid of the update nags by using Recovery Mode: http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Recovery_Mode

I haven't experimented with it yet on emuNand, my backups are at home and I'm in Mississippi right now, but it should work the same way.

1) If it's an Old 3DS, and you have the newest launcher, then yes. Gateway 3.2 added support for emuNand up to 9.7 on o3DS, anything before 3.2 will not boot an updated emuNand. And even 3.2.1 only supports up to 9.5 on New 3DS.

2) Formatting sysNand just removes all the saved settings, it won't change the version of any system apps, so you would probably have to reinstall the NVRAM profile, but nothing else. It will remove the update nags, and you would be able to get back into emuNand afterwards. Formatting sysNand shouldn't affect emuNand's data.

3) I haven't actually used the Android app, so I'm afraid I can't answer this one.

I hope I was able to provide some help. Good luck.

Okay so just to clarify, what is the NVRAM profile? That's the exploit used by the blue card? And yes, this is an o3DS. And since I don't have the card with me, I can just use the web exploit to load into emuNAND until I can get access to it again.

Technically the NVRAM install option is the same thing as the blue card, but only works on NEW 3DS's...

Using this QR Code in the 3ds's camera installs the Ds Profile Thing without the blue card
This is the original thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/beta-spider-ds-profile-roploader-4-x-only.380725/
I've mirrored this and genned a QR code pointing to it for those brave enough to test this. I will not do so myself until I know it's safe:

Gateway_MSETT_Installer.png

(This QR code points to http://www.battlefieldsingleplayer.com/apachethunder/Images/gateway/index_msett.html. Trust me it will be faster for you to use the QR code. :P )

The html file I pointed this two has a different file name but is identical to the one the original poster made in terms of what's contained inside the html file. I have other html loaders at the same folder location as this one, thus the reason for the custom file name. I know from experience testing my other ones that the different file names will not impact it's functionality. ;)

Thanks for your help guys, I did exactly what I said in the OP and it worked like a charm. No more update nag and since I used OpenDNS to block the update servers, I don't need to worry about the android app to get to emuNAND mode.

Recovery Mode doesn't load in emuNAND. I've tried, it simply boots like normal.
