Hello folks! I've been playing a friend's PS3 lately, and I've been thinking of buying my own. Specifically a hacked Slim one. Bit as the budget is tight, if I make this purchase, I don't think I'll be able to by another console for a couple of years. I am not a fanboy to neither Nintendo or Sony, although I prefer Nintendo games and kind of dislike FPS and most of my already owned consoles are Nintendo. And I would REALLY want a WiiU, but the thing setting me back is that it is not yet hacked. So the question is, should I buy a PS3 now(for its platforming and action games+PS2 remastered) or wait for a WiiU? Thank you in advance and sorry if this is the wrong section.

There are not so many great games on Wii U right now, perhaps you can buy a PS3 now that has a very big library and is hacked, and in a couple of years, when the 5 or so awesome games that will ever be released on Wii U are actually released and cheaper (yes, because Nintendo reduces price on its old games, erm... ok) you buy the Wii U.

Well, since you said you won't be able to buy another console for a couple of years, I would suggest you weigh the number of games available on both platforms.

Compare the number of games YOU WANNA PLAY on both PS3 and WiiU and then decide :)

EXACTLY! :)

PS3.

Maybe and only maybe will it be worth pirating games on Wii U by the end of its lifetime (2018-19) because as of now, don't even bother to think about it. You can use the Wii U to play backups of Wii and GameCube games, though.

I see. Thank you guys! At first I thought that there aren't that many games for me for PS3 but after a better look they indeed seem many more than the ones on WiiU(even though I'd love multiplayer Smash >.< ). I'll try to get the PS3 it seems! Thanks!
Well if you buy the Wii U and if you don't own a GameCube or a Wii. You will get a huge library of games to play

Yes, that is true. But they run so nice on Dolphin that I normally don't play Gamecube and Wii games on my Wii U. I just run them on Dolphin with my old subpar notebook that is connected to my TV.
Gamecube games are specially bothersome to run on Wii U, having to set up Nintendont and dealing with troublesome Gamepad support.
Just leave me with my wireless X360 gamepad and my overperforming shitty notebook for Gamecube gaming.

Yes there are. What there aren't are many third party/multiplatform games. But if you like Nintendo games, it's got enough.

I have a Wii U, I talk from my own experience.
Right now I own the following games:
  • Mario Kart 8 with all DLC packs (This is a great game)
  • Super Smash Bros 4 (Great game)
  • Super Mario 3D World (Good game, not great but good game)
  • TLOZ: Wind Waker HD (it is OK, but it is a remake... nothing extraordinary here)
  • Pikmin 3 (OK game... perhaps Good game)
  • Injustice (OKish, nothing extraordinary, lack DLCs, better on PS3)
  • Mass Effect 3 (Great game, but it is old and lacks DLCs and you can't carry your data from ME2, and... PS3 version does not have this problems)
  • Batman Arkham City AE (Good game, but it is old and already in PS3 kind of)
  • Asassin's Creed 3 (Buggy PoS)
I think the only good game I am missing right now is Bayonetta, yes of course it will change in the future, Xenoblade X, etc. But now it is this.
Not so many great games.

PS: I also own many Wii games, but that does not count.

If you count 16 quality Wii U games as "many" and that more or less half of them are third party then, sure, okay.

The prices that Mario 3D World is going for, at least in UK it's just damn unreasonable as it doesn't really deserve to be £35-40+. It's literally "Mario 3D Land 2" and while it's a fun and good game, I wouldn't praise it much higher. It didn't really do anything impressive or mindblowing.

Nintendo should've developed Mario Sunshine 2 or Mario Galaxy 3 instead.
