Impossible, the mset exploit was patched in 6.X FW version. The only way to gain acces again to such exploit is reinstalling an old DS profile .cia from the 3DNUS I believe.
To regain access to the MSET exploit, someone would need to patch the FIRM too. Unless you know what you're doing, you won't be able to do it. We can't use the FIRM from 4.x (the firmwares where the exploit is available) on newer firmware versions because the FIRM has changed significantly since then. If I recall correctly, the newer save and ROM encryption methods are in the FIRM, so using a 4.x FIRM on a newer firmware version would break too many things, if not brick the system. I don't remember where I read it, but I think one of the hacking teams (I think it was KARL3DS or RxTools?) is going to try to patch the newer FIRM so it supports the MSET exploit.

Shit, I totally forgot we are talking of sysNAND here, not emunand. Yeah, you're right, sorry.

There is a difference here. What is shown in the video is not the same process9 exploit from 4.x FIRM, it's actually a port of firmlaunchax, which is fully working up to version 9.2.
So if there will ever be a way to install an older and legit mset version in your sysnand, rxTools will boot on it.
In fact, the next step is to make it compatible fot mset on sysnands 6.x too.

Old 3ds, 9.2.0-20E firmware, emunand created by gateway launcher (emunand tool detected it and could extract it), firmware.bin and slot25key.whatev downloaded, and after 10 seconds loading... blackscreen :'(

note : choosing the option to go back to home menu doesn't work either...

Can the glitch be fixed when in rxmode cartridge games are shown as corrupted games on 4.5?
What glitch? Can you provide more information?

Game saves created on system software 6.x and up, will always appear as corrupt on a system downgraded to 4.x

If you set up a 4.x emuNAND and boot it with rxTools, it will still show as corrupt.

After placing the slot0x25KeyX.bin at the root of your SD card, and updating your emuNAND to the latest version, your games created on ver. 6+ should play fine without "corruption" messages.

If this doesn't answer you're going to have provide me with more information about this supposed "glitch".

-snip-

Edit: Perhaps I was being more of an asshole than I intended to be. Full post quoted below as a permanent reminder for me not to be a dick.

(Honestly I should have just skipped this question, I have no fucking idea what this guy is talking about)

"Used to run" as in install? No, you cannot install .cia files in rxMode. If however you install said "legit" .cia files in Gateway mode, they should run just fine in rxMode

Can you change your region using rxTools? Yes I believe so.

If you mean can you install a "legit" (and I use this term very loosely) EU .cia on your US emuNAND, then no (see the first sentence of the blue answer above for more information).

Unlike the blue answer even if you installed your the "legit" EU .cia on your US emuNAND it wouldn't run in rxMode (I think)

I know you can not install CIA's in rxMode but they can be installed in 4.5 cfw on system nand then A emunand made of it then so on. I'm kinda tired how of how you answer things on here when it comes to me ------ ( OFF-TOPIC other thread https://gbatemp.net/threads/fakeing-a-legit-cia.384249/#post-5404861 you smarted off too me when there was no need to also not reading all of that thread had you did you would have seen that I did not make that thread it was some other guy) ON-TOPIC Also if you think you should have skipped my question then do it Id much rather have some one other then you helping me. Had you read what I posted you would have seen i asked if legit EU cia files worked if i changed my region to EU I did not say I was gonna install CIA files With rxMode hell the guy even posted in red it doesn't patch signature checks.

So, just to be sure :

A retail cart's save , created on let's say 9.2 sysnand , will not get corrupted on an emunand of 9.5 with a sysnand of 4.5, if the slot0x25keyX.bin file is present on the root of the SD card during the boot into rxMode ?

And as a worst case scenario, the game in question is Pokemon ORAS, if I get a corrupted save message , will the save file still be intact and work if I try to run the game on a 9.2 sysnand ?

This is something i haven't tested, be sure to make a save backup.

Unfortunately the reason I'm so hesitant to test out any of these theories is because I have no way to make a backup of my Pokemon ORAS save file.

If there is anyway to make a backup and also restore the backup back to the cart. Please do enlighten me.

The game itself will prevent to delete the save, it only will show a message saying that the save is corrupted, nothing more nothing less, the save will still remain there, even if unplayable. The only way to delete a save file on a 6th gen Pokémon Game is with a button combination at startup, so you should be fine testing :).

You have no idea just how big of a relief your post just gave me.
I had my suspicions but had no way to safely test it out.

But I'm gonna go a head and try it soon.

And will post the results back here.

I think the only game that does automatically delete your save when the keys don't match is majora's mask.
