That's the thing, I don't get any errors. When I use the VMware, I get connection status, but no streetpasses. I try the normal windows 7 method, where I also get confirmation of connection, but no street passes.
I would do the android method, but I don't want to root anything at the moment, it'll void my warranties.
Rooting doesnt void the warranty if you the cause of the damage is the root. And if it ever bricks you can always restore your factory image.
What's your wifi adapter??

I can't get the internet to share with the native method. I believe this is the issue I've been having for awhile. I can't figure how to get it to work...

i had the exact same issue with one of my internet dongles.
one worked, one didn't.
did you ensure that the shared connection has been set up properly?
the one that worked showed it had internet access but it wouldn't recieve packages.

also i fear that the nzone.exe method isn't working currently, at least there's been an awful lot of people stating my exact problem the last 4 days-ish.

i also tried the spillpasspi method, but seeing as both my dongles have the rtl8192cu driver and hostapd doesn't work natively with rtl871xdrv, i fear some of my issues come from the chipset of my dongles.
because even with a hostapd that actually supports it, i can get a connection, but i can't get any passes.
it does appear to change mac address, i can get a connection, but no passes.

and as for the nzone.exe, i'm not quite sure whether or not it's compatible with rtl8192cu or any other rtl drivers for that matter, would be nice if someone who's got it currently up and running to confirm homepass still working on 9.5.0-22E.

Same boat as you. Tried SpillPassPi and couldn't get it to work with my dongle, even though I got the driver changed in all the right places. Each time it would change mac address it would change the driver associated. I told the dev and asked if he could make a version for the second driver he lists but no go.

I switched to the nzone.exe method last weekend and it was working excellently up until 2-3 days ago. Now my DS see's the nintendo zone but does not get an internet connection at all. I've tried on 9.2, 9.4 and 9.5 emuNAND and all the same result.

yeah so i guess nzone.exe is just currently broken, let's give it some time, i'm sure some smart person finds a workaround soon™ :)

we're not the only ones.
op of this post: http://www.glaciergaming.co.uk/articles/640/homepass-for-3ds-version-94-on-windows
also has the same issues we have for 4 days now.

are you sure it is working for you? cause it sure enough isn't for me.
and yes, my wifi dongle is able to be used as an ap and able to switch mac address...

Yes, I'm absolutely sure. In fact, I just received another set of streetpasses just a few minutes ago. I'm using the Windows 7 nzone.exe method w/o dongle.

guess i have to put win 7 on my laptop then to see if it is a problem with win 8.

edit: also did you update to 9.5.0-22e?

edit2: works on win7

what a shame it doesn't work on win8 though for me :/

Hey thread,

I am trying the Window 7/8 method & having issues. I get to the CMD part & the attwifi connection is not showing.

I am using a Netgear WG111T, which I bought in 2004. I have updated the USB adapter's driver to be recognised by my PC. I still suspect that this might be an uncompatible device though, I cannot find that out. Another suspicion is CMD telling me that "The hosted network couldn't be started"

I am willing to try another method or if the old device is the issue, is there any other users of the Windows 7/8 guide that could recommend a cheap wireless adapter that they know works?

Any help would be greatly appreciated to aid a fellow Street/Spotpasser & hopefully future Homepasser.

Thanks for the reply.

I did by finding the answer here, still same issue.

Edit: Even tried this method which lead me to me not able to enable "Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter" so I found another solution here to solve that new issue & still nothing working :glare:

according to a quick search your wifi stick should be able to use hostednetwork.

i can only tell you what works for me to fix this error, which is going into device manager and disabling and reenabling my network adapters.

Just wanted to echo the issues encountered by some. Before I updated to 9.5.0-22U, I was able to get streetpasses via nzone.exe (Windows 7 native method with USB dongle) while having another internet connection saved and active on my 3DS. Now, unless I disable the other connection, my 3DS cannot detect the NintendoZone. I am also unable to receive streetpasses.

if you're within the range of another network that is in your connection list, your 3ds will connect to that. that is the primary reason why you should remove that connection.
have you tried removing the saved connection?
if you get streetpasses that way it should be fine.

I'm saying that previously, before I updated to 9.5.0-22U, I still got streetpasses even though I had another active connection saved. That is not the case after the update.

Yes, I'm absolutely sure. In fact, I just received another set of streetpasses just a few minutes ago. I'm using the Windows 7 nzone.exe method w/o dongle.

I got my nzone.exe working again today.

1. Open Device Manager > Open Wifi Adaptor > Driver Tab > Uninstall Driver > Restart Computer
2. Open Device Manager > There's a chance Windows already reinstalled drivers which is fine > Installed Manufacturers latest driver set using the "Have Disk" option in Device Manager and pointing to the drivers .ini file. I'd recommend googling this if you don't have experience installing drivers with this method as I don't want to go further into detail.
3. Run maccheck.cmd. For my adapter Windows drivers were newer and maccheck.cmd wouldn't run with the manufacturers drivers, so I had to roll back my driver by Device Manager > Wifi Adaptor > Driver Tab > Roll Back Driver
4. Run maccheck.cmd and it should re-run as usual. Then nzone.exe start BASE256. You should see your DS working again with nzone and internet access.
5. My 3DS still wouldn't get streetpasses even though it showed nzone and internet. I tried full restart and disable/re-enable of wireless with no go. I tried renaming my Windows hosted wifi adaptor from "Internet Connection* 3" to "Internet Connection* 1" and got "Windows can't contain these characters" generic message - Ah Hah! I renamed to match the SSID instead. As soon as I did that streetpasses came flooding in.

I think what happens is that the registry keys that maccheck.cmd make don't persist very nicely through a computer restart. That's the only thing I can think that happened since re-running maccheck.cmd still wasn't working for me. So a full uninstall/reinstall of the adapter worked. This should remove and GUID's in the registry and allows maccheck.cmd to properly re-create them again after they are gone.

Yeah, still not working.

To anyone in this thread, using the Windows 7/8 method what WiFi adapters have you had current success with?

UPDATE: Was recommended this webpage & directed to this section between FAQ & Troubleshooting:

If I succeed or not with this adapter I will try to let this thread know.
