Apparently the forum software won't let me search for the exact term so I'll post this as a question: Will the GW work with the 9.0.0-20E FW?

Nope. So when Pokemon XYZ Omega Awesome Ruby Green Yellow Pikachu edition comes out require SDK10+ and F/W 10.0.0U you won't be able to play it? Same thing with SSSpwn. You require emunand to make it worthwhile to have.
I still don't believe they have a full 9.x exploit but if I would be glad to be wrong (I have a 4.5 one but it would never hurt to be able to use 9.x because if it's really a full exploit, yeah, there is no reason to keep 4.5, even if you need a game to activate it, as you could use a rom of the game to run the exploit anyway, whatever if it's a retail or eshop game).
For now, I just think it'll be a sky3ds-like version, with the old method (1 game per SD) and maybe a new version of the card with a switch, but without any limitation in the numbers of games, which would already be a very good option for people with 5.x+ firmwares.
They probably just though "let's do a software clone of sky3DS, without putting a rom numbers limit, and will make a lot more of money".

Gateway just said on their website that users on v4.5 should STAY in v4.5. The v9.X exploit they're using is probably limited, but enough to play roms on.
I know, but some people here still seems to believe they will get the full hack, which is rather improbable (though it would be cool if it would happen), so I feel the necessity to tamper their joices to avoid potential big disillusion.

There could be other reasons, such as why upgrade from 4.5 to 9.2 if it already works fine as it is. Plus, if you upgrade now, you'll have to wait for the exploit to come out to even use the card.
This is the main problem, if you are on 5.X or higher, the kernel-mode exploit is fixed, if you are on 7.X or higher, the user-mode exploit is fixed.
You can't use a rom (no matter if e-shop or not) to run gateway on 9.X, it must be a new exploit or it wouldn't work at all.
You can't even use gateway in 9.X to make a software upgrade in order to change it into a sky3ds solution, something like that doesn't work without a 4.5 3ds.
Since they say it works on 9.X it means they found a full hack, otherwise you couldn't run roms and there would be no point in waiting.
No full hack = No rom loading.

^^^^^^^ The wisest response yet! I agree 100%. I'm excited because my 3DS I bought new was just to play X/Y and had to be on newer firmware. My 4.4 3DS will stay that way. What sucks is that I bought it used on eBay yet by the time I looked for one to use with a GW, it cost almost as much as new. Have to say too, I take much better care of my hardware than it's previous owner did. But........ still nice to have it and a GW!

No they didn't find a kernel exploit again, it's using the same method which sky3ds is using, they wouldn't say stay on 4.x otherwise.. Stop getting people's hopes up
I don't own a gateway, my 3DS is on 9.2 and i did buy every game so far, so i'm hoping too that i'm right about this.
Of course i could be wrong, but i don't think so, it makes no sense that they are using the sky3ds method.
No they didn't say they are using Sky3ds, otherwise they will say that they have to release a new cart.
Ok. Here's what we know so far. GW's multirom solution requires hooking and patching into the firmware so that it can redirect the button press "select" to toggle the multirom menu. This requires a kernel exploit. SINCE the GW cart does not have a physical button to toggle rom selection, the Sky3ds method would be unlikely. NOW, what is possible however is for GW to revert to the 1game per sd card like in the old days but this is unlikely as well since they are intent of rubbing it in in sky3ds's face about their limited 10rom thingie.

Because that it the latest firmware available and they know it's supported, why would you stay on 5.x when you can get better compatability using it on 9.x.
I know right. Based on what we know so far it seems quite likely that it's a 9.x exploit. But time will tell, either way we'll know soon.
In any case, it might be similar to ssspwn with the entry point being one of the games.

I found it funny cause many many years ago, had a roommate in college that did this same dumbass branding of the school logo, but it didn't look anything like it after it healed. Just looked like a birthmark.
