it will say searching for peeps than it just drops you in an empty room sometimes it doesn't even say the message straight away it just drops you straight into the room. and once your in there it's like a block hole no one ever comes no matter how long you wait. you always have to quit. it did it to me 6 fucking times last night 3 of them being in a row!!
 
Well, that sucks.

The only issue that I've been getting sometimes is the "Error connection has occurred" which kicks me back to the main menu and then I have to rebuild all those points up to 100+.

Thankfully I've got the USB-LAN coming so this problem shouldn't happen any more.

Btw, really wish Nintendo would add more content to Mario Kart 8 through DLC, such as Battle Mode tracks, actual interesting characters to the roster and vehicles (Double Dash-type).

Yeah good pointer there bud. Anyone using MK's online system and having issues should use a 2.0 LAN Adapter, it does work much better via Ethernet also E-Shop and browser works better as well. On the Wii MK version you had to have a LAN Adapter with FTTP connection, cause it kept dropping out online so that is the only reason why I have one in the first place but lucky it worked with the WiiU as well. So yes a good investment, I must stress! ;)

better off to get the official one that's what i use plugged into one of the front ports.

another victory with that shortcut they even threw a blue shell and a lightning bolt at me and i still won!

Yeah, I got the official one just in case and works wonders, way better than wireless. You can tell the difference with E-Shop and using the browser instantly. Mines in the back port, any difference between back and front?

Shouldn't the game honestly work with WiFi? It's not like the WiFi transfer format was invented during this millennia.. I hope all issues become solved sooner than later. A proper online system and hardware should be a given for multiplayer games like MK8.

I bought this one for £6.50 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360721781623?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 because I just couldn't bring myself to pay up £15 for a USB-LAN device, regardless that it'd be an official one.

It's a known fact that LAN is far more stable and reliable than WiFi so comes as no surprise that the better of the two is indeed LAN.

Heck, even Sakurai-sama (I'm such a weeaboo! lol) told the viewers to have a USB-LAN device ready for when they'd play Super Smash Bros. 4 on their Wii U.

There is a difference between a small input lag or lag in general with WiFi online play and WiFi not working on a console game. If Mario Kart 8 suffers from online play in a way that hasn't been compensated in SW/HW, it's a problem. Otherwise we could just have LAN-only consoles, since WiFi isn't suitable for the games developed for the system.

ps. I've got a 1000/100 network up and running, so I won't see the issue. Not everyone (hell, most people don't) has the same luxury.

No MK8 should be fine as far as I know with wifi connection but I thought someone earlier was mentioning he was having issues with disconnection problems or something related to it but I do know and remember MK on the original Wii with a FTTP connection you needed a LAN Adapter cause Wifi connection on MK kept kicking you offline at the beginning of a race for some reason unknown and Nintendo did report on this issue saying a LAN Adapter was needed to resolve the issue. I thought maybe MK8 carried the same issue.

Should be all good m8, as long as it is 2.0 LAN. I always go for the Proper makes myself cause I am a sucker for it but I just feel at least you know you are going to have trouble free installation and gaming with the rite goods, these generic makes you just never know what your gonna get!

Well, it's just plug it in to the rear USB, connect the LAN cable to the box and to the router and that's it.

Sometimes the generic is more or less the same as the branded one.

not that i know of i had to use the front ports cos of y-cable
