When I'm playing online on Dynamic Cup with around 170 points I tend to get an "Error connection" why?! I just want to keep playing MOAR god dammit!

no sorry

you'll find out very quickly that speed isn't the key to winning in this. if you pick stuff with just great speed it usually has fuck all handling and acceleration. meaning you won't be able to drift good and when you do get hit it takes ages to get back up to top speed. :P

you'll want to pick a vehicle and parts that give you good speed, great handing and good acceleration. these 3 stats are mainly whats important.

Oh don't ya worry, the vehicle I've got is perfectly balanced for it and by far the best, unless there's a better one yet to unlock.

MK 8 seems all about power sliding and you can do it perfect power slide into a right bend and then back into a left bend and boost off. The Power Sliding technique I think is a lot easier then other MK's. It seems they have made it more user friendly this time around.

Mario kart has always been about power sliding. i dont see any difference in this game from the last few games. I have seen a few people commenting on how the power sliding is easier on this game, is it really? To me it seems the exsact same as it was on Wii and 3DS. The only noticable difference in this game that i can tell is the top speed of karts is a major factor now. Going from a 3 bar speed stat to a 4 bar is a massive change from how it used to be and is much more useful than stacking alot of Accel imo.

that shortcut on rainbow road is so awesome and they never see it coming! :P

Wheres the short cut?. I cant see it?

By the way if anyone sees me on MK8 online on the planet bit just before you go into a race and you see Reece above his head when you click on PM me so I can link you up on the WiiU :)

Also i am looking for a Victor we did tons of races yesterday we had a rite laugh just the two of us and we were so close with each other on skill but I could not PM him, you cant write what you want just selected comments! So if you are a victor get in touch man :)

before selecting a race type click friends and rivals you can than see who you raced recently and add them.

the shortcut on rainbow road where is it? where indeed :P

It just hit me today where the short cut is!

You need to know where exactly below it is and then fall down to it then there's the short cut, I did it once but due to being unaware I still went offtrack and lost myself to the 9th place. lol

just run into the boost and jump off you land on it every single time. i can do it 3 times in a row

That Rainbow Road shortcut, I have only managed to trigger the glider and glided into a pit. From below reference.
Reason why I glided into a pit.
Too much of a tilt. http://i.imgur.com/BIUI7z5.jpg
From below http://i.imgur.com/FAc11XL.jpg
Same tilt as in the first image http://i.imgur.com/zAssetc.jpg
The angle you need to be at http://i.imgur.com/6eHtdLo.jpg

Thanks for the picis but still don't know where it is, has know one got a proper pici to the actual short cut?. I understand you go of the ramp to the next bit with your glider and somehow glide onto another track instead but not the one directly in front of you I presume with the boost tracks that go round each way?

I call bullshit on people who say they notice the occasional drop to 59fps during gameplay. If you really think you see it, I think you just want to so bad you're imagining it.
?? - Like I said earlier get a friend or family round and watch them race on GP or similar against the computer - it's most noticeable on the 1 screen rather than split screen 2 player, and particularly when drifting on a bend so the camera is panning round. It is there - if you can't see it then you need your eyes testing laddie :P (Trust me I never wanted to see it, but it's just staring you in the face!)

EDIT: ......maybe it's a PAL version problem? Perhaps something to do with keeping the game playable on 50hz only TVs that they've cocked up slightly on? (I doubt it)

With my contacts I have perfect vision, so I don't think it's my eyes, lol. I've spent a fair amount of time looking for it (on my 60hz TV) and can't spot it.

Edit: Actually maybe the problem is that you're running it at 50hz. That's only 50fps, so it's dropping to 49fps.

that's not the one I'm talking about...this is the one

there's another one? :wtf:

Yep, I think it's the one, unless earlier on there's somehow a method of flying off to a different place of the track but that'd take ages to get there, I think.

Btw, my current setup and with a Baby-form character it's even faster with its acceleration! I'm always on 1-4th place on the Dynamic Cup tournament with this gear on.

Notably:
When it comes to performance, Nintendo has always aimed to deliver a rock-solid 60 frames per second with each home console Mario Kart and, aside from Mario Kart 64, it has always managed to achieve just that. There was never any doubt that Mario Kart 8 would fall right in line with the rest of the series but upon seeing it for ourselves we immediately noticed that something was amiss. During gameplay we experienced the regular appearance of duplicate frames manifesting as a constant but subtle stuttering effect. Upon analysis we determined that the game suffers from extended clusters in which a duplicate frame is displayed every 64 frames. What this ultimately means is that, during normal gameplay, Mario Kart 8 continually drops down to 59fps. This may not seem like a big deal - most will probably not notice it at all, and it has zero affect on playability - but it has a noticeable impact on image fluidity that mars what would otherwise be a perfectly consistent frame-rate. And for us at least, once it is seen, it can't really be unseen.
What makes this situation all the more strange is the fact that this problem only appears when CPU opponents are active. In time trials or split-screen matches, with AI-controlled drivers disabled, the frame-rate updates flawlessly while race introductions and victory animations all display correctly as well. The frequency and pattern of this problem suggests an internal timing issue, potentially related to Mario Kart TV, rather than one of performance. We can't be certain where the root cause lies but we certainly do hope Nintendo will take time to correct this problem in a patch.
Unfortunately, two-player split-screen operates in much the same way, suffering from the same frame-rate disturbances of as single-player, provided CPU racers are enabled of course.

Now if you want to go against both the DF comp as well as us that are apparently seeing things, then be my guest, but as a programmer I'd have assumed you'd be taking the technical side of things a bit more seriously...:P
Kinda debunks my PAL suggestion too - by the way both my TV and Wii U are running at 60Hz
