True, they don't have to admit crap, but an update or fix of this issue would be fantastic. So far they just keep dodging questions and leaving people in the dark.

Yea just a BIT more info thats useful for gw users. Or some update on the patch whatever. The patch has been on the status "Soon" for months. How about an update what you finished and what yet to be finished etc. Whether the brickscode is true or not the LACK of communication is killing GW. They rather answer 20 mails than post 1 fricking messsage on their site.

#1: It has been proven there is bricking code in GW 2.0B2 by several well known people in the scene besides me.
#3: I knew there was a checksum, but didn't know there was any bricking code when I posted the code on irc.... I have never posted my patch anywhere but irc and never intended for it to be widely distributed.

Theoretically if you never shared the patch, the bricking would've still occurred, no?

That patch was released only on IRC which is a pretty quiet location. And then due to some users on there it kinda went into its own big topic.

Source: I was there on IRC the moment it came out.

Everyone is welcome here of course but I do not think you are wanted here especially spreading useless, false information that is going to just inflame the situation.
You are one of them and you are all obviously ignoring the people's systems that have been bricked. What's gonna happen next? Is the actual gateway team going to make an account and try to win us back or something?

I know that much, but if it didn't get shared on IRC, there would still be GW bricking occurring.

Given that a lot of people who didn't touch the patch got affected, I'd say this was all just a terrible timing. x'D

And like Normm has discussed, he himself was unaware that said code bricked the hardware irreparably.

I kinda figured. I'm not mad at Normm at all, I'm mad at the GW team for doing what they did, and how stupid stuff like this thread keeps occurring.

I still appreciate how Normm tried to bring us a way to play retail carts without region locking. It's just a shame that the launcher contained code to brick consoles.

Yeah, that was the intention, there wasn't any ill will behind it at all. That's kind of the regrettable thing, people are constantly expecting people like him to know exactly everything that's going on. I've known him since back in the day when he was developing the interface for the Acekard and I don't see him withholding information intentionally like that.

Seeing what Gateway has done to this point, I can't recommend people to purchase their hardware in good faith until a better explanation is given at this point, and seeing how they have pretty much ignored everything on these forums to date shows how shoddy this whole situation is. As far as their "olive branch" of repairing legitimate consoles, I'll believe it when I see it, because this whole thing could quickly turn into a finger pointing fest.

The way they're personally attacking Normatt doesn't seem very normal either. It's almost as if they're trying to pin all the blame onto him.

If there's one thing the Gateway is being good at right now, is ruinning their own reputation (the small bit they had).

Can't say that I believe it either. It'd be too easy for them to blame the user for using a modified launcher file, even if they stuck to 100% legitimate GW launchers.

I feel bad for Normatt. He was just trying to make a way to let people play their legal carts. There's nothing wrong with that.

Sad thing is people don't see it that way and take every single one of their words as the absolute truth, because this world is just perfectly capable of being completely honest with us, right?

Oh look, another lie by Gateway:

Switching to Gateway
20/01/2014

We are receiving many emails from worried customers switching from unstable Gateway clones (mainly 3DS Link/ R4i Gold 3DS/MT Card) to an original Gateway card. Worries about the possible bricking of their console because of their past use of a clone.

In fact, you do not need to worry as long as you have the proper Launcher.dat on your SD card.

Just please make sure you download the latest release bundle (today Beta 2.0b2) from our web site, and copy the official Launcher.dat to your 3DS SD, to confirm you are using the correct file, enter into the GW menu and you should see Our Gateway banner on the top screen as well as GW beta 2.0b2 on the top of the bottom screen. ENJOY :)

As if people are dumb enough to give in to the threats of GW and switch to the ones who made the bricking code in the first place. They aren't, are they?

I just honestly feel like this is all flagrantly egregious. Never have I thought that gateway would do something like this. I think the point has come where we all know that opening threads, including myself, is just a waste of time. We aren't fixing people's consoles; gateway is still ignoring the main issues here. So I feel that what we are doing is pointless, unfortunately. We can only wait as time will tell what really will happen. I'm not sure what to say, I really do commiserate with those who have bricked consoles and wish them the best of luck. I may not have a bricked console, but at least I can feel as if my console is bricked. I really do know how people with bricked consoles feel, especially those with bricked consoles using legit gateway firmware. I, no, the 3ds community understands how you victims feel, but gateway obviously doesn't. Wish you all the best of luck.
