Hey all,

2 quick questions...

1st) I've read some places that the Gateway 3DS cards are Red and Blue some places, but other places says they are White and Grey. What is the difference?

2nd) What is the best place to purchase the Gateway 3DS cards in the US? I was looking at ModChipsDirect, but looking for any input if there is a better place to buy from.

Thanks

I can answer your first question. The actual plastic casing of the cart is white on the red-labeled Gateway (3DS) card, and grey on the blue-labeled Gateway Installer card.

Gotcha, so the actual plastic is Grey or White and the stickers are Blue and Red. That answers that question, thanks!

Anyone have any input on the 2nd question? (Best places to buy in the US or input on ModChipsDirect?

i don't know why people adopted the terms "red card" and "blue card". we tried very adamantly to change that with the gbatemp review, by calling them "red-labeled" and "blue-labeled". it is much less confusing that way. also you never know if they will change the color of the plastic.

although shipping from china, gbatemp's official sponsor stocks the card: http://nds-card.com/
shipping from New Jersey is realhotstuff: http://www.realhotstuff.com/Gateway_bymfg_37-0-1.html

The term "blue card" comes from the official manual: "b) Copy files from Blue Card (R4i) folder to the Root of a fat 32 formatted Micro SD Card.". It's also used on the website: "Insert red GW card and press "L" to start the test.".
Why shouldn't we just adopt the offical terms?

I'd call it over-simplification. I'd suggest calling them the 'DS' cart and the '3DS' cart but you'd just as quickly run into people asking "Which is which?", people will always find something to confuse. It's fairly obvious what 'red card' is referring to..

Just stick to "red card". It works. Whoever can't figure that out must be a complete idiot. Heck, even if you're colorblind, you should figure it out, since the blue card is also referenced. And if it's not blue, it's probably the red one.
