Thanks KeyPuncher!

You solved my problem. Yeah, it looks like it doesn't like having more than 8 buttons on Joystick 1. I deleted the device through vJoy and configured Joystick 2, and that fixed my problem. Thanks! You're the best!

No problem, have fun gaming.

Okay now i'm having a new issue.
When WiinUPro reads the VJoy Device it only recognises 8 buttons.
View attachment 2927
But in the Game Controllers Windows it says it has 20 buttons.

Does anyone have a solution to make WiinUPro recognise the buttons?

I'm still having this issue, and adding another joy configuration doesn't work. Maybe something is blocking WiinUPro from recognizing the device.

It seems that vJoy has compatibility issues with Windows 8. WiinUPro is asking vJoy how many buttons a device has and for some reason it only returns 8 (maybe because it's Windows 8, ha.. ha.........)

Newbie question.
What does shift assignment do?

Similar to how on your keyboard you can type "1" or "2" by pressing those keys, but when you hold the Shift key they display "!" and "@" instead.
Shift assignments are the secondary (or 3rd or 4th) commands for the buttons on the controller. You can set a button to act as a shift so that when you hold that button it changes the output for the other buttons to whatever you assign them to be.

It sounds like there is something going wrong in the connection between the controller and the dongle(s) but your dongle switching seems to lower the support for that conclusion. I don't think interference is typically an issue with bluetooth devices, but I suppose it could be possible.. I assume you are not sitting that far from the bluetooth dongle.

Maybe try another usb port? There's a chance something could be wonky with the one you are using, although the difference in responses from the different programs seems to go against that idea as well.

Yeah, I'm literally right next to the receiver. The difference between games may have been a fluke, since later tests also had the unplayable level of problems in Cave Story and other games as well. Anyway, I tested a bunch of other USB ports with strange results...

I originally had it in a 2.0 port in the back of my PC from the motherboard. Got errors.
Swapped it with the 3.0 ports in the back. Still errors.
Tried all 3.0 and 2.0 ports in the back. Still errors.
Tried the ports on the front of my tower, which are only secondarily connected to my motherboard, rather than being built right in. Seems to work perfectly after an hour of testing.

This is exceptionally strange as front tower ports are notorious for causing all sorts of problems for other devices. I personally have had card reader/writers refuse to function on front ports. Not to mention that none of my other USB devices have any problem with the primary ports in the back. I'm a bit wary of saying it really works, since I haven't tested it very thoroughly. I may just be getting lucky right now, heh. I'll update again later when I'm more confident it's fixed.

Thanks for the help!

Update - After testing several hours on multiple different programs with 0 problems at all, I can confidently say checking my other USB ports fixed this problem. So if you're getting command delays and non-responsive commands, try another USB port! Thanks again KeyPuncher!

How do you get Beta 7 to recodnize the Wiimote +?

I synced my Wiimote with the Toshiba Stack, and I can connect. I configured vJoy with 13 buttons (That's how many I counted with the Nunchuck). However, Beta 7 sees 2 "Pro" controllers plugged in. I don't get the Wiimote options that I saw on the Beta 7 video. How do you configure, or possibly, force it to a Wiimote option? I swapped nunchucks as well, but none of the buttons or control stick is registered by the beta. It just sees the controller, but the buttons aren't registering. Ideas? Another Win8 problem? haha

How new is the Wiimote+?
I only have the Zelda Wiimote+ which is an older version (it still connects to the MS Stack) and have not been able to test any newer ones (like the ones with the sync button on the outside) but I do plan on eventually getting some.

When I was first running test for Pro Controller connectivity using the WiimoteLib example application, the Wiimote section would recognize some of the button (minus, home, a, b, ect.) so it may not too far to say that a Pro Controller and a particular version of a Wiimote+ are recognized similarly.

Actually, this is one of the newer ones that have the Sync button on the outside. I'm going to look around for an older one to see if it recognizes it better. I'll check back if I find one.

Just a short question, is rumble supported with vjoy + x360ce? does not work for me but everything else does.
and by the way, if u add the V-Slider in the vjoy config u can assign the two triggers to two different sliders. that way u can use both triggers at the same time. dont know if it has been posted before

OK, so, I found an older version of the Wiimote, and it works perfectly on Win8. So, it looks like the libraries need to be updated for the newer Wiimotes / Wiimote +.

Sadly, my bluetooth stack expired. The only options are to reinstall the "trial" or to find "another method", right?

Hi KeyPuncher. So far, I've gotten your program to work with the keyboard and mouse axes, but I'm having trouble getting it to work with vJoy. I'm having the same issue Fluto used to be having, where my joystick axes aren't being set correctly. My left analog is set to WASD and my right analog is set to NumPad 8246. I can get all the joystick buttons to map correctly, but the axes don't even show up in the dropdown. Running 64bit.

I think this looks great, but I'm not too savvy on this sort of things and I heard that some of these controllers don't go in all directions. I've read the last few pages, but could anyone tell me if the analog stick will work properly (for Project64 on Windows 8 64-bit) or if there is any other reason for me not to buy a controller to test this out? Thanks!

Just the other day I was really upset because I couldn't find an app that would let me use my Gamecube controller with my PC that is connected through an adapter which makes it act like a classic controller. And then I just was lurking on the forums as I do and fell upon this and next thing I know I have my Pro controller and Gamecube controller both working with joysticks flawlessly! Thanks mate!

Ummm...so never mind about my problem. Oddly enough, just like Fluto, mine just started working. Might want to look into it still, but I couldn't tell you how to reproduce it. Thanks for the work you put into this.

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
