Hrm, What to do... My home button on my iPhone 4 is giving out Should I attempt to replace it (which is fairly complex in nature a repair due to all the parts) or should I sell it on and downgrade to the Huawei Ascend Y201 Pro Android phone I have here?

In case ya want some specs
iPhone 4 Specs:
http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_4-3275.php

Huawei Ascend Y201 Pro:
http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_ascend_y201_pro-5112.php

Its worth mentioning I hardly ever if at all play games on my phone I use it as a communications device (So the normal Call / Texting plus FB/Twitter/Internet/Steam/Skype)

Its worth mentioning the Huawei is on ICS

Either way, trying to sell an iphone with a less than perfect working home button won't provide maximum profit if you do decide to sell it. I recommend going on ebay and looking for some services.

I Initially considered trying to fix it myself as im decent at that but after looking at the tare-down video and knowing how thin and fragile screens are getting I wasn't fancying the risk

Look my good friend, I have a long history and just as much of experience with smartphones and I'd recommend almost any Android phone over iOS/Apple products.
But since you only use your phone for basic things, I'll tell you the magic trick to fix this Home button issue...

Get any alcohol swab or anything that could clear grease, squeeze the alcohol over the button (almost completely drenching it) and quickly press it a couple of times to allow entrance of alcohol to the inside of the button.
Next, put a clean towel on your finger, keep pushing the button with it while phone is turned face down and give it a couple of gentle hits to the back (the now facing up).
The idea is to get alcohol to clean the grease-filled insides and getting them out.
You may need to do it about 3 times (or depending on how bad it was).

Do you know how to open an iPhone/ have proper tools to get the screen out, get the button out and clean it manually?
It's fairly easy but I didn't think it'd come to this -_-'

Better refer to YouTube for how to open the screen.
There's a certain location you need to NOT pry open the screen from since it has the connectors and such (upper left corner for 4 and upper right for 3Gs, I believe).

I Do know how to open the iPhone and even repaired a 3GS no problem however. 4 is quite more fiddly and needs the whole phone to be gutted. I'll have to send it to a professional

(Burn it. Pretend it never existed.) No, don't sell it... unless it's to somebody who can fix it. You could just try to take it apart. Just be real gentle. If you could open the edge where the button is, you might be able to see what's in there by using a flash light. If you have to press it harder than usual to turn the phone on/off, then the little rubber/plastic thing underneath the button might be wearing out and needs to be replaced.

We also have Huawei Y201 Pro for sale here, just stick with your iPhone, Huawei is a shitty brandmark, unless you wanna sell it and get a Samsung or any other brandmark, I prefer HTC.

The reason Huawei's are cheap is just because of the brandmark, you have to customize it to achieve full speed of the phone, I know people who bought Huaweis, praised the brandmark like some sort of God, then left them in the drawer collecting dust and bought a Sony Xperia or a Samsung Galaxy.

Just get that home button fixed, shouldn't be expensive.
