Hacking Gateway 3DS "Firmware spoofing" and "multi-region"

Sorry for the unfamiliar with the games. Can anyone tell we the firmware spoofing is supported up to which version?

Only 1 game has firmware needs higher than 4.5 atm, and they played it, Mario & Luigi - Dream Team Bros was the first game to force 5.1, so they where spoofing probably to 5.1 or 6.2..

Seems to be going the way of ps3, a base firmware, but once you are in you are in, with spoofing since its the actual 3ds doing it, i dont see this being a problem as you arent gonna update past 4.5, and should be able to spoof fine higher firmwares.. if anything progression is good....

Good for them. I will wait for the softmod.

Without a softmod, and if no other exploits are found, there will be a time when newer games won't be able to play. A softmod is the only way forward. And now that a wider range of people have access to the exploits, i don't believe it will take much time for a softmod that can use any DS flashcart to install. So, enjoy your Gateway, but i ll pass.

Thats is what i fear about it, 80dolars is very expensive in my country, its 40% of the minimum wage, and if i buy it now the mail will take 35days to bring it to me, probably someone will change this exploit to load games without the red gateway in less than 35days for free, but also it could take forever, so what to do? i really dont know but i really wanna play my 3ds.

The retailers in China have already raised the price, and they charge extra 50 RMB (about 8$) for a firmware below 4.5 console.

The team invested a lot of time an money to release the Gateway, so I don't think it will happen so quickly, so if I were, you I would just buy it and enjoy it now^^

The only problem here is just Nintendo and its future updates.

China is China dude, I'm actually living in China, nobody abroad would do this... And you should know games and consoles are forbidden in China, and the Chinese governement doesn't support video games, only the games they think not against the Chinese society... So you can't expect much. Nintendo or Sony would like to sell games in China, but your governement doesn't let them... Sony can because they sell other products like DVD players... That's different.

As for the console forbidding policy, actually the situation has changed a little recently. Several news already mention the policy would change in near future. So, I'm quite optimistic about that. Anyway, that is far from what we discussed here. LOL

I'm on the latest 3DS firmware, but I will keep it on this firmware forever now if the Gateway 3DS supports it. Or buy another one. I really want this now that they've gotten around region lock and forced firmware updates. Nintendon't want their games pirated? Too late.

Ι believe it will take more than 1-2 months to have a softmod. But, i am in no hurry since there are more DS,PSP, and PC gems that i really want to play and i just don't have the time, having a real life and all... So, it is not that bad to wait. Play your DS and other games during the wait. Unless all you do in your life is playing games, there are plenty to have fun with.

PS: Lol at those who say 300+ games for the price of 80. Seriously, do you have a life? Are you going to play all of those? Even if we exclude the crap, and remain let's say 30, will you play all of those? By the time you finish half of them, there will be a softmod, unless all you do is playing games all day...

Plus, it is not that hard to rent or borrow games, instead of buying them.

So the price is steep. A 30-40$ would be acceptable, but little more...

Glad to see you didn't misunderstand my meaning dude. I have a good life here and I like to be in China. Anyway I feel for you man. Because I also buy my games and systems on Taobao, and I saw they increased the price They are JS like most of chinese gamers say.

Yeah, I hope for you the things will get better anyway. Well actually all the consoles made in 2012 should be on a lower firmware, so you shouldn't worry about it. But for sure that Animal Crossing bundle is on 5.1.

I think spoofing is just the gateway3DS pretending to the 3DS that it already runs a higher FW (but still requiring FW 4.5).
just look at the PS3 spoofers. there is still just FW 3.55 hacked. I got a spoofer for 9.99 on my ps3.

am I right that there is still no possibility to gateway my 3DS for all the 5.X and above users?

And currently we have no way of incorporating any countermeasures....

the Gateway can modify and deal with anything as it has kernel access
it will just have to learn how to reroute and save items to the correct place and load them etc, learn how to deal with them like a 3DS on that firmware would

You're making FAR too many assumptions...


1) you said it's "useless"? Uh no? If people are getting use out of this exploit it's far from useless
2) to this post, you can't predict if this will be just like the PS3... Just because we found one exploit, now patched, doesn't mean we won't find another... If going by your quote, then every hacked system was like the PS3... (if that makes sense... Super tired...)
