I know...i know, but i was thinking all over time all emulators i see now on youtube are fake and never got a clue if the real one would affect the same thing like Gateway when the emulator happened and develop using the chip form.

Sorry if is a noob question.

umh.... What exactly are you asking? What do you mean affect? Affect what? Affect the 3DS?

Firmware updates would not directly affect a theoretical emulator unless game formatting or encryption changed.

when i saw Gateway is got attention that is only flashcart would work one 3ds game based Sd card, i thinking much will the real 3ds emulator make happen using same stuff form like gateway features. Thats the affect.

dont take this wrong, but your english is really bad, so we all have trouble understanding what you try to say.

i can only guess, but the gateway flashcard will not help the development of a 3ds emulator.

there is no 3ds emulator so far and there probably wont be one for some more time.

I am also not sure what you are asking so I will take the scattergun approach

Would the gateway help a 3ds emulator be made -- probably not in any way that matters if the person doing the reverse engineering was competent and had a reasonable set of tools. That said a less than truly competent person might try and if you were pressed for tools (and stuff to reverse engineer modern secured devices is not the cheapest and most readily available) then maybe something could be gleaned. The cart reading is but the tiniest fraction of full emulation.
That said if I am building an emulator and/or something like GBAtek but for the 3ds then I imagine the gateway will have reverse engineered a tiny bit of the 3ds cart protocol and

Would the emulator be troubled by virtue of the gateway blocking -- if the emulator had to use the real firmware/BIOS rather than a faked one then maybe. Such a thing is actually quite common in early attempts at emulation and where attempts might be troubled by encryption (the PSP might be a good example -- the hardware has been well understood almost as long as the DS but emulation lagged far behind with key leaks decrypting the low level stuff).

In short though the gateway people look like they have some people halfway versed in electronics and I can certainly respect them giving it a go what they are doing is not really of any great importance in the long run -- it is not just the traditional anti warezoorz attitude that sees responses of boredom, meh and how uninteresting returned from the people doing the more in depth hacking.

On top of all this we live in at least partially interesting times so previous models and assumptions about the progress of things might not play out as they did in consoles past.

I think what the thread creator is trying to ask is this: Would the hypothetical creation of 3DS emulator for PCs hurt the Gateway's success? If that is the question, most likely. Though if the 3DS was hacked enough to create a working 3DS emulator, somebody could just create a flash card like the R4is for multiple roms per SD, perfect game speed, homebrew, etc.

DS emulators don't stop people from getting DS flash carts.

GBA emulation did make GBA carts somewhat less appealing though and it was around from before day one and good from not long after.

Granted the cost of entry into GBA flash cart world was not inconsiderable either and can not be ignored.

Probably not.

It's probably the same as the real DS.
People will buy a DS cause it's more convenient to play on that then on a emulator.
Besides, once the Gateway is released, other teams will clone it and make other cards.
