When the april update hits, the WiiU loading times will, according to the video below, be 3-4 times faster :-) I'm really looking forward to this. And thanks to nintendo for fixing one of my only issues with the WiiU. Now get Mario Kart U in the shops, and I'll never put my WiiU gamepad down again ;-)

That's pretty sweet. I gotta say that I wouldn't say "3-4 times faster", based on the video. But the plus side is that it's still a pretty significant difference and (afaict) from a legitimate source. :D

EDIT: just noticed this thread is also made in the other section.

EDIT 2: as pointed out by Skarnet (see below), I was wrong. It actually IS this much faster. Sorry about the confusion on this.

And why wouldn't you say 3-4 times faster? button pushed at 0:23 in video. after update WiiU is back in menu 7 seconds later at 0:30, while before update it is not back in menu until 0:46, and 46-23=23 and 23/7=3,285 which means it's more than 3 times faster and less than 4 times faster. So based on the video, what would you say then, cause it's pretty damn clear to me!

I just rechecked it with a chronometer in hand...and you're absolutely right. I guess I was thrown off by the intro a bit. Sorry about that. :shy:

Yeah, the loading times in menues are painful indeed but it's nice to know that it will be improved soon.

And i agree, give me Mario Kart U, a new 3D Super Mario & the remake of Wind Waker and my WiiU wont suffer from lack of attention from me :)

I'll never understand how people say their WiiU is collecting dust.

For me, I bought my Deluxe on launch day. I have Sonic Racing Transformed, New Super Mario U, NintendoLand, Monster Hunter, and ZombiU, and a bunch of downloadable titles. Not to mention with the games like Lego City Undercover and that Need for Speed game. There's more than enough games. And then there's games like Darksiders 2, Black Ops 2. Which if you have a WiiU, there's no reason not to get them unless they're not your type of games

If you own other systems, it's perfectly understandable. Darksiders, Black Ops, Batman whatever, I've played all of that on my PC and not going to double-dip on the Wii U. The only games I own for the Wii U are NSMBU, ZombiU and Most Wanted U (cause that actually has some improvements and I didn't get the game elsewhere yet) and aside from Monster Hunter and maybe Lego City, I'm not interested in anything else. There's not enough exclusives available yet.

No there isn't. But if you don't own the other consoles, and I see comments like ''I want Monster Hunter but I don't want to get a WiiU", then that makes you retarded. I mean, it's confirmed there's a great deal of exclusives coming. And I'm willing to bet anything, that when those exclusives do come out, people will still say there's not enough games. And they won't buy the console, and then the WiiU will sell poor and they'll mock it. I'm waging 50 bucks right now.

I only bought New Super Mario Bros U and Assassin´s Creed III when i bought my WiiU, and im sick of Assassin´s Creed III and at the moment im addicted to Guild Wars 2 which is taking all my free gaming time.
And i already finished Darksiders 2 on my Xbox 360, and regarding Black Ops 2... No, just NO!

I'm willing to take that bet!

...I say they'll change their argument to "it only has shovelware/games I don't care about". ;)

We have all four units, my son keeps the ps3 & Wii downstairs and I have the Wii U and Xbox up here with me. As I see myself I am playing the Wii U more than the other 3. We stream with the ps3 to the downstairs tv, I stream movies to my gamepad when others are watching movies downstairs. I like my Xbox but I'm having more fun with my Wii U. The gamepad seems to make games more personal. I guess it is sort of like UBI soft said. You kind of have to experience playing it to really enjoy it. But all in all I like all the systems. (I don't like paying for Xbox Gold but I do) The Playstation store is great and my son pays for Playstation + because of the ton of free games. Online play for my Wii U has been great with my roadrunner no problems with bo2, mass effect U or need for speed most wanted U, all run great.

I think it will continue to rise in use with more games that are actually programmed for it instead of ports though. Time will tell.

I've beat NSMBu and I'm bored with Zombiu and Nintendo Land. I don't own Monster Hunter, those types of games don't float my boat. Not interested in Scribblenauts since it's all played on the gamepad, and I'd rather be looking at my 80" TV.
All the other games worth mentioning I've been playing on my Xbox 360 for a long time now. Any new multi-plats I will buy for Xbox 360 because the online service is better and the games can be installed onto the hard drive and played with no annoying disk spinning.
I still play some Wii games but I play them on the Wii because they look better without the Wii-u's terrible upscaling, and they don't crash on the Wii.
My Wii-u will collect dust until some new first party titles are released.

Our wiiu doesnt collect dust . Inbetween it being used to play games , it is a very good browser (kids are always on pc lol) we use it for streaming movies , the mrs seems to love using it for the TV/Sky tv controller :) i cant stop planning Runner2 right now . It is always in use here one way or another.

I'd say...ahhhhhh...hmmmm, June some time. Then I am going to say Marcan and company MAY release hack AFTER that April update. Saves them headaches I believe and gives devs time to figure stuff out before the next big update. This is all SPECULATION.

The real problem is that there are games out.... but not everyone likes them.
I have Scribblenauts,NSMBU,All Stars Racing Transformed, NintendoLand (bundled with my Deluxe), and Little Inferno. not bad, but I am not a fan of COD, and never really got into the Batman games as I enjoy platformers and/or FPS games with decent or better storylines (eg, Bioshock, etc) more then games that are similar to God of War in gameplay (eg, attack lots of enemys with combo attacks repetitively) or Zombie games (not including TTG's Walking Dead game). I hate sports games also.

So for me, I passed on Batman, ZombiU, Any Sports Games, Epic Mickey 2 (may reconsider),Mass Effect 3 (i am not a huge fan of RPGs,but i did enjoy KOTOR on PC tho), Skylanders (I refuse to support games that you buy accessories (Physical DLC) for $$$ to play after you buy the base game), Rabids Land (I do care for the actual Rayman gaems tho), Wipeout the game (I do not support Shovelware, despite watching the show)

and this is only a portion of the gaems out for the Wii U.
