I dunno about this...it doesn't look THAT terrible, I mean it kinda seems alright in a "hey lets play this Xbox zombie game from 2002" kind of way, I'm speaking gameplay not looks. Looks it sorta looks like a Xbox port to the 360 at it's launch.

I'll probably end up pirating the shit out of it, I don't pirate much at all nowadays but I really doubt this is worth the money but I'll give it a go anyway. This might be a disappointment in that it's neither awesome or terrible just OK...and we can't make fun of an OK game.

I'm actually looking forward to playing this for some reason. :wtf:

I saw around the first ten minutes and it seemed laughably bad. Like so boring and unfun. I watched as the player knife a zombie in the head five times while it stood there and went "urgh".

Pile in some of the laziest looking graphics (and there's no excuse for graphics like this on the Xbox 360 in this day and age) and it seems like a cheap cash-in on the popularity of the show. Hell the intro is a redux of the show intro (although since it only has two noteworthy cast member it only displays two actor names, which I thought was rather funny) and it says "based off AMC's The Walking Dead".

Compared to the fantastic Telltale game which knows how to handle the universe, this is just a sad excuse.

Remember that thread showing the beta or something of the game, and it turned out to be false? I said in there "this looks like a ps2 game". And I got bitched at by people who were saying "GRAPHICS DON'T MATTER!" and all that shit. But in TWD, they do, they have to capture the universe and feel for it.

Looks like I was still right. The graphics just look bad and lazy in this. I mean, kind of expected Activision to put more money and effort into it considering it's a big franchise. Also the voice acting.. my god, the voice acting.... WTF?

"alright mr. reedus, just come on in and read off the script"
"What kind of emotion should I put into it? Can I see a scene or something?"
"Don't worry about that, that all gets edited in later on."
"But I'll sound bad"
"Don't worry about it buddy. Once your done reading we'll edit it and show you"
"Dude, this isn't gonna wo..."
"JUST READ THE FUCKING PAPER!"

*reads script*

"Holy shit dude that sounded bad, I want to redo it"
"No man we're editing it right now. It was great"
"Can I listen to it?"
"No, now get the fuck out."

Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker are usually pretty good actors too. They sounded pretty dull here.

I do notice they're advertising this game a lot on having those two in it and not stand ins. Again, it feels like they're cashing in on the show's popularity.

Speaking of voice acting, Brittani Johnson (Angel from Borderlands) just posted this video on voice acting in BioShock infinite, and it blew my mind:

I thought the guy playing in the videos that have been posted were just shit at games but no it really controls that badly. Take a FPS for the Wii, run it through the Dolphin emulator, assign the Wiimote to mouse and the nunchuck to keyboard...that is how it plays. I'm not even joking, it plays like its being run through a fucking emulator.

It looks crappy for a modern title but I can't say I mind, as long as it doesn't look like PSX, Dreamcast or N64 I'm OK. I wouldn't go as far to say PS2 but certainly a PC game from that era. THERE ARE JAGGLES! I was playing Medal of Honour: Allied Assault yesterday and it looked a lot smoother and there was no jaggles. That was a game released in 2002 running on id Tech 3, I kept on checking the video options (for which there are like five things to adjust). The zombie models are pretty bad and very limited, at one point I was up against six identical zombies! It's funny to kill a zombie and it just topples over like a fucking tree! The overall game is a bit of a fetch quest, speak to a survivor, find stuff and kill zombies with a broken combat system...also when a zombie "grapples" you...holy shit I can't believe how horrible the control for that system is.

I played it for an hour...that's the most I could take. I would have played it for a lot less but Dead Island was shit for my first hour and then I got into a groove and found a very good game there once I levelled up. This was the same shit all the way through.

So I went in with an open mind, I didn't expect anything special just a functional zombie bash-em-up that I could kill a couple of hours with however it was far worse than that. It was hard to know what to expect with this game, the developers have made good games like Scarface and Ghostbusters...they also made that Star Wars dancing game but that's for the Kinect, most Kinect games are abysmal. So yeah it's the usual Activision low budget rush job so it can come out before the series end. Six more months of development time and it would have been much better, there was no need for this game to be out while the series was still airing...Telltales excellent episodes have proved that it doesn't need to be released in time for anything but hey that would have meant Activision would have had to spend more on it.

I thought the first 10 mins of the game were great. As I thought "Okay so they're just giving us a slow start to introduce us to the game." but now after watching this. The game looks so bad, which is disappointing considering I had absolutely no hype for the game and really didn't pay attention to it till now. And it still looks bad :\

The ending cutscene after the final battle is less than a minute long and ends too abruptly. It's reminiscent of a shitty CoD single-player campaign ending. It's laughably bad.

(Skip to 3:20 for the ending. Really. Save yourself the trouble of playing it.)

I've come to the conclusion that Activision are incapable of telling a good story. They're best known for CoD & Rock Band, neither of which have any semblance of a story (I wouldn't consider CoD's campaign mode "good" storytelling--no one plays CoD for its campaign mode, anyway). Other than those titles, I think all Activision have ever come up with this generation is shovelware that capitalizes on the popularity of movies and TV shows. So they never really learned the importance of a good story.

I'm caught up with the comic and the TV show, and I've finished Telltale's awesome game. I was so looking forward to playing this, but I'll have to sit this one out.

Actually Black Ops 2 story is quite good for a change and it's often praised especially the character Raul Manaedez who I thought was very well done.

I watched the P&C TWD on youtube, and it was completely worth my time, and it actually made me interested in the characters and everything.

This just makes me want to... go to bed.

Huh, never played Blops 2. Never played Blops 1 for that matter, only the MW series. After that I stopped giving the game a chance.

I just finished the game. Firstly, definitely not worth a purchase (Pirate it or borrow it from someone/rent it)
The game is enjoyable but becomes WAY too repetitive. Get a car, drive to location, depending on choice of driving style (What type of roads) repeatedly break down/scavenge for supplies, get to destination, get given random objective whilst killing a large amount of walkers, look for survivors and give them what they need, complete objective. Repeat.

You repeat the above several times before the game comes to an end.
All up, a fairly shit drive with a few enjoyable stops on the way (Such as the sawmill).

hmmm.... I was gonna purchase this on Steam when it gets released in a couple of days, needless to say after reading the comments in this thread I'll give it a miss.

.....but it has Zombies, so I expect it'll sell well.

This is Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddlers Green. One of those "guilty pleasure" kind of games where it's shit and glitchy but also a lot of fun! One of those games where if you go see a review of it, viewers ratings are far higher than "proper" reviewers are.

For some reason this game from a no mark publisher released in 2005 and doesn't look that much worse graphically has better AI (I know they're zombies but in TWD I expect all to respond to me when I shove them), story, voice acting (TWD actors really didn't sound like they wanted to do this...contract obligations?), variety in zombie models and physics...it's like Terminal Reality hadn't heard that games can use ragdoll physics.

It got reskinned as Day of the Zombie in 2009.
