Yeah, unfortunately they are weak against Mage/Sage types. I like that he isn't squishy, Paladin has better mobility then a General, but he'd lose 4 defense just switching to Paladin. I am on chapter 12 though, it seems there are lots of enemies so having a unit who can tank damage would be very helpful, especially since that mission is riddled with Knights and lots of other close range melee classes.

Well, for Kellam, who I directly promoted to a general, I S-ranked him with Miriel who eventually became a sorcerer. I pretty much always keep my couples paired, so any time they face a mage, I just switch to her. But man, I love my general -- the mother of all tanks.

You could also pair a general with some type of beast rider (mage knight, peggy knight, etc.) for awesome mobility.

Kellam was actually the first person that ever died on me on classic mode... When he dies, he says, "I wonder if anyone will even realize I'm gone..?"
...
It's really depressing...

Christ, I'm getting tempted to pre-order this but I'm not too fond of grid based SRPGs.

I;m quite conflicted on what to do.
I don't think you'd regret it. I'm not too fond of grid-based games either (to put it simply, I just suck at playing them) but something about Fire Emblem just works and keeps me playing. The harder modes are really fun, too.

Worse case scenario, you sell it at a profit. I think hardcopies sold out in the first week here in the States.

Same here on my first playthrough. I let him stay dead, too. I really didn't want to reset in my first playthrough (Hard/Classic), and I lost quite a few folks.

He must've been out in the front, or around a lot of mages, he never came close except on lunatic.

Lunatic progress report: Chapter 14. So far the first few were infuriating but once I had healers I could spam exp with I have been able to make reliable units. Main character becoming invincible despite going against the grain and making him not a sorcerer (hero).

Yeah at this point it's not checking some of the foe's ability before I attack that kills me.

Hat's off. I put my Lunatic run on the backburner and went back to my other FE games. I think it took me about eight tries to get through the Prologue without Lissa dying.

I'm still playing my other Hard/Classic playthrough about every other day, but I'm mainly waiting on the Bloodlines 2 DLC.

This thread needs some cheering up.

Well I'm pretty much finished with the main game and maxing a lot of characters for the heck of it. Starting a hard/classic file, I don't understand how lunatic/+ is even fun, it just sounds irritating since most of the time it isn't skill, just RNG screwing you over. :P

Someday, though...
