The PS4 is next up and yippee, or wait, did you actually mean hooofrigginrah with disgust...

I don't have a stack of PS1 games, my son does. He's a PC gamer though and likely couldn't care less if they play in the new PS4 as he has no interest in using my PS3. He gave my buddy extended loan of his PS2 for a reason, he has almost no interest in PS2 games any more.

Now on the other hand, my buddy is a hard core console collector when he's not playing PC hard core :)

Some gamers care some not.

Me, oh I wish I could go back in time and STOP ever starting with computer wargames. In a single move I'd be removing years of bad experiences. I'd be saving a shitload of cash. And what the heck I likely would not miss them as I have the bad habit of buying them and not getting around to playing them.

They are too easy to get, even when expensive. But time is another matter.

I do not regret buying my first hand held (DS Lite), but, I likely regret falling into the trap of getting my first flash cart. Too many seductively easy to obtain games. And the day is not any longer here too.

I only really play a few games on it, and frankly I could say I have not minded buying those at all. The few I have played as easy downloads, well the only real downside to owning legit, is they are not easy to carry around. If Nintendo were to sell a DS with a hard drive, I'd be all over that like ugly on an ape. I'd be ok with digitally downloaded instead of bought in physical form. I'd be ok not needing to carry the carts with me.

And lets face it, they have not deterred the pirates any. So not needing the carts would not harm the situation in a manner worth mention.

I have not opted for the 3DS model yet though. The power of the machine has not tipped the scales even in XL variant. I just have not needed it yet.

Free does not = a good deal automatically.

I recently deleted a lot of my 'minis' off the PS3 that I had managed to get via a buddy's help. They are often worthless schlock.
I have also turfed a few 'classics' as they are just not what I remember any more. I played some gmes on arcade machines pumping quarters out to play them. Fun maybe then, but today, sorry but nope, those graphics blow and the game play, nope again, I have grown to want more.

There's a limit to backwards compatible. I often find myself wasting good time playing an old game, that simply has not passed the test of time. Great back then, but today it is just not cutting it. And value to a collector does not automatically mean the game is still good, some just think it is worth a lot of money on eBay.

My brother bought a Sega CD the year it came out
I'm still laughing to this day

I have no regrets, since Sega is gone... I only buy Nintendo consoles B-)

Well, the only regret I have is not trading that piece of shit Sega CD for a Saturn. The guy offered me to trade his Saturn for my MegaDrive + Sega CD combo. But I wanted to keep my MegaDrive

Now Genesis emulation is perfect, but Saturn is not :(

Not jumping on the PS2 from the start...but on the positive side, alot of games are dirt cheap now so it wasn't that big of a deal,I can't even remember the last time I got a new gaming system around its launch...

I've always regretted not having a time machine so I could back in time and use my future-knowledge the dominate the fledgling games industry.

Sometimes I just gaze into the night sky and wonder, what if?

I would win a bunch of lotto's and use the money to fund my dictatorship of some small island nation.... lol

Edit: On the main topic, I guess I would probably go back in time to a few periods in time. I have missed out on some stuff that I wanted but couldn't get... Vectrex, Genesis Tetris and a bunch more.

Finishing Skyrim. It is the only Bethesday game whose ending I've gotten, and man, that game feels empty and forgetful now. Well, a lot moreso than it was originally. I can go back and play Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and still enjoy exploring. But going back and retrying Skyrim now just feels fruitless and uneventful. But I had to. I had to man. Every town I came across, every location threw everything at me, never letting me find quests or locations on my own. I had to commit a player-suicide to stop having the game steal away my own experience.

It doesn't help that the scale of the vanilla game is smaller than the preceeding games either D: That said, I have finished New Vegas, and I don't nearly mind replaying that one as much as the Skyrim. I suppose that's because the developers here (not Bethesda) made the game far more linear than the other games, which sort of opens the game for more variation when I replay. The game has a degree of progression flow that, though it stifles complete freedom, does make small excursions a little more interesting on the side of the main meal.

Instead of Nintendo: Gaharsdo. GENIUS.

Not keeping my old consoles. I used to have quite a selection of oldies lying around my house a few years back, but as soon as I was offered money for them I just let them go. Definitely regret it, even if I don't play them much anymore.

Wish I didn't stick with the Wii as long as I did. Once I bought a Xbox 360 it was like a completely new and better world.

Also wish I just got a PS3 instead of a Xbox 360. Like now that I have one I wonder why I ever got a Xbox 360. Well, I did it to play with friends but why didn't they just use the PS3 instead?

EDIT: I don't regret buying a Wii, it's a solid Smash Bros. machine and it plays Mario Kart, but I haven't booted it up for anything outside Smash Bros. or Mario Kart in a long time. Considering I got it close to launch (back when the prices got super inflated because of lack of stock), I could have easily gotten a Xbox 360 or something instead.

If there was something I could go back in time for, it'd be to prevent myself from accidentally erasing my friend's saved Pokémon Pinball RS game. He had a massive store and quite a stack of Pokémon saved up. I forgot to save before I shut it off again.

That, or that I wish I got into gaming earlier than I did. I started with the GBASP although the Super Nintendo and N64 was the "it" console when I was just starting school.

Basically none though that is mainly because I have no greater regrets in life. I might be half tempted to wish I got into game modding as I presently understand it sooner but before that it saw me learn how computers work, how operating systems work and how things get pieced together and that was probably more valuable in the long run. Even playing the vampire rain demo provided a reference point for terrible.

Going back in time.... despite having purchased one of http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4OYGjUrdllo/Sf3xZe9ME5I/AAAAAAAAU1U/FVIB2wp9D3M/s1600-h/timeposter.jpg and fancying myself something of a gaming concepts Renaissance man/polymath with enough electronics/programming methods knowledge to be dangerous I am not sure how much damage I could do.

I would go back in time to the point where I was so obsessed with getting a 360 so I could play Sonic 2006 and kick myself squarely in the joy department, then recommend much better games.
