I'd like to know which cart has the best rom compatibility and all.

Some of the games I want to play:
Fire Emblem
New Super Mario Bros.
Mario cart
Kirby Canvas Curse
Pokemon series
and some other Japanese game.

Most if not all of the recent ones are pretty good. If you have a DS or DS Lite then get a Wood R4/M3 Simply as it's cheap and plays everything. If you have a DSi, DSi XL, 3DS or 3DS XL or just want THE best then get yourself a Supercard DSTWO http://shoptemp.net/products/Supercard-DSTWO.html which does pretty much everything else and then some. Of course it's about $34 but you get what you pay for.

I'd suggest to buy a Supercard DSTWO or a r4ids.cn.
The Supercard DSTWO supports gba/ snes emulation, avi videos aso. but it's very expensive. You can upgrade this card after Nintendo blocked it at the 3DS (but you should ask here for a guide)! It supports lots of real time features (slow down, cheats etc.)
The R4i gold 3DS from R4ids.cn supports wood (a very good firmware) and is much more cheaper.

Flashcards get blocked by Firmware updates (there was one some days ago) and the supercard dstwo is the 1st card that has a fix. We have to wait for a fix from the R4i team. If you buy a r4ids then you should wait for the update!

Vanth88, you should read the title: he says that he wants to use it with the 3DS! The M3 Simply is no opinion. Everyone here would suggest Mariner the cards I wrote.

I own both cards and they are very nice but the Supercard is on a higher level!

If you want an expensive card that costs about $40 where i live and can play 97% of the games there are, I would highly suggest Supercard DSTWO. If you want something cheap, try Ace3ds or R4i Gold. A simple Google search should help you with all this.
You suggest the Ace3DS? Seriously? I'm not preduced against it but it doesn't support the latest wood firmware and it is not officially supported by wood. The card is a R4i clone (I forgot the website). They are too young to say that you can beleve them and they have not so many updates like the r4ids.cn.

Ace3ds. Clone? I just thought it was a card based off of the DSTT kernel.

Every GBAtemp-suggested cart plays at least 99% of games at all times (including, of course, the ones you named).

The DSTwo is generally considered the best (most features/support), but people often go for the R4iDS.CN card since it's cheaper.

The reason I mentioned wood r4 and m3 simply is to simply make a general statement that those cards are great for the earlier products. However I answered his question after that by saying "If you have a DSi, DSi XL, 3DS or 3DS XL or just want THE best then...".

Yes, but it makes it a bit more complicated. Why are you talking about the DS Lite if you know that he doesn't use it?

Let's stop here and dont confuse him.

Go with the DSTWO if you have a 3DS, they update against Nintendo's firmware extremely quickly (it's the only cart the works with Nintendo's latest update right now) and you also get AVI and PDF reading, pretty good GBA emulation, and accurate but laggy SNES emulation.

I want to get a card for my friend. I dont know much about the other kinds since I have only ever used an AceKard 2i because I only have a regular DS. Never had any problems with it. Looks like 3DS has more protection on it tho. Do I need to tell them to be careful.. like no using internet, no updates? is there a way to block these updates, or are the updates forced?

So from what I gather people are saying for 3Ds the Supercard DSTWO is the best card to get then R4i gold would be second.. R4i gold is more popular because its cheaper tho
Do these play 3DS games or strickly only DS?

DS Only.
3DS is not yet hacked.

The Acekard2i has served me well for many years on many different models. (DSL/DSi/DSiXL.3DS)
However, this latest flashcard block had me worried enough to get a Supercard DS TWO.
It is more complex than the Acekard 2i to setup and has a significant higher battery drain than the Acekard (due to the additional CPU)..
However, that said, it does have more features, and may be one of the few that will work with the newer Nintendo firmware.

If you do not upgrade your firmware (affects DS Shop mainly) I find the Acekard the preferred choice due to simplicity of updates and setup and the longer playing time.
The DS TWO is clearly a superior card but the additional features brings additional complexity. The battery issue is not bad but it is noticable.

You can get a R4i Gold for the same price, pretty much the same features and reliable updates...

So I went to zhuzhuchina.com and did a search for R4i Gold. A few different versions popped up. How do I know what type to get for my friends 3DS
E, G, C, D?

Personally, I like the DSTWO. It may drain the battery life faster than heck, but team Supercard has a good rate of uploading a patch when the 3DS updates it's firmware.
