Terraria coming to consoles!

Stop what you're doing immediately - we have very important news - TERRARIA IS COMING TO XBLA & PSN WITH BRAND NEW CONTENT

There were some teasers on the Terraria facebook page since yesterday. I was hoping for decent modding support (+ steamworkshop?) or updated content.
But instead there will be ports to the xbox and PS3, with apparently "BRAND NEW CONTENT".

I got this game for £6 and it is my most played game of the last year. £6 for over 70 hours of gaming is a damn fine bargain in my book and the 6 months of significant FREE content that they added was more than enough. Would I like more content? Fuck yeah, of course but the developers have moved on to something else now, I won't bitch and moan their decision for wanting to start something new.

By the way some of the people behind this game are now working on the very promising Starbound which looks to significantly advance on the original idea:

Everything that I've reading lately about PSN involves only PS3, and guess what: I dont have a PS3.

That really isn't the case. The developer stopped updating as they wanted to move onto other projects, as they rightly should. 505 Games wanted to do console versions so they purchased the rights and they're doing the additional content themselves.

If there is cross platform multiplayer for at least the PS3 version to PC, then awesome, I'll get some of my PS3 only friends to get it. If not, I'll get the same friends to just get it for their laptops as Terraria isn't some high end newest video card only game. I could probably run it on an ancient Dell from 2003 I have in storage. With a memory upgrade at least.

Such a great game, I probably won't bother with the XBLA version though as I already own the PC version. Still, absolutely fantastic, if anyone hasn't played this yet they should. It's an absolute blast with a friend or two.

I've sunk a massive amount of time into this game, it's a blast even going for end-game gear the 2nd or 3rd time on a new-characters server.

I do have to wonder how a console implementation of the game would work though, the game is very dependant on the cursor for a number of things, such as precise block interaction or aiming of various weapons.

Anyhow the new content has me interested, I am hoping that this new content will also arrive on the PC version.

The same way that I wonder how people can play FPS games on consoles, when they're so dependent on precise cursor movements to an even larger degree.

As somebody who already has the game, I can't help but feel disappointed... though not knowing the new publisher's habits, I don't know if the new content will be backported or not. Terraria is written using XNA so it's not like the whole engine needs a rewrite to be ported or anything (at least to the 360, a wrapper or substitute libraries might work on the PS3).

Some companies take as "If we didn't mention it it's not happening" approach, others take a "if it can be assumed and we didn't say no, it's happening" approach. Don't know what it is with this one.
