Capcom and GREE are teaming up to develop a social Monster Hunter (Monster Hunter: Massive Hunting) and Resident Evil (Resident Evil Vs.).

Monster Hunter: Massive Hunting will have familiar monsters like Rathian and Blangonga. Players can gather materials to make weapons and armor too. New for this game is a "friend hunting" system plus tap and flick controls.

GREE and Capcom are also creating a Resident Evil Mercenaries social game too. The game has 3-on-3 third person shooter battles with either Deathmatch or King of the Hill modes. Chris, Jill, and Claire are confirmed for the game. All three characters can be customized too.
Gah! What's up with the Smart Phones fever lately?! TWEWY and now Resident Evil and Monster Hunter? :hateit: I don't like any of those games but it's painful to see this >.<

I'm not against NEW games for mobile platforms at all but these don't sound like games people would want. Monster Hunter mobile? I think the series is mediocre but a proper one on mobile would be cool for fans...oh it's a social game.

Resident Evil, well they've already done "new" games for mobiles, they really sucked and so did that cut down port of RE4 but hey they can do the games better now mobiles are more powerful...oh Mercenaries...SOCIAL Merceneries...pass.

Uh, Capcom, the fuck are you doing?
The guys that like your line of games are not typically the sort that would play them on smart phones.

I mean it's fine if you're just getting another company to make the games with your license, but...yeah.

There are games where it's okay to make iOS versions, like Ghost Trick, or Ace Attorney! They're totally suitable for the platform!
Edit: And they're not damned social games either, they're ACTUAL games!

They will make more money from this games than games from 3DS/Vita. The Android/IOS market is WAAAAAAYYYYYYY bigger than the handheld market.

I'm an hardcore Monster Hunter gamer, and this makes me disappointed. I can expect crappy touch gaming a-la Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting.

Can't say the same about the Resident Evil game, the series went to crap and sold itself to casual gamers long ago, starting with RE5.

1)Tear down success and popular existing games into small games with lacking controls and
make them social.
2)Easily port existing games.
3)Make clone games.
4)Top it off with just a few good games.
5)Give false idea that phone games are going/are to top(ping) handhelds/console games.
6)?????
7)Profit!!!
Optional) Spit into true fans faces.
Of course this over top, don't take it too seriously.

Well, I just hope this isn't taking much time from other games they could be making.

I love Monster Hunter, logged hundreds of hours on the series. But I fail to see how it could possibly work on smart phones. How are you meant to feel threatened by a Rathalos when it's the size of a postage stamp? How are you meant to concentrate when your game is constantly interrupted by texts? Monster Hunter is for the more 'hardcore' audience, it always was and it's a damn good game for it. Don't bollocks it up now, Capcom. You're already trying to take the series in new directions with MH4 on 3DS having a 'story' of sorts, and more adventuring. Baby steps for now. If MH4 works out then maybe you can try this as a side project.

Games like these are showing Capcom's lack of appreciation for the IPs they have, not understanding that some things are just not meant to be simple playing experiences, but dedicated and involved.

Some IPs like Ace Attorney? Yes, this works well for smart phones, IPs like Resident Evil, Megaman and Monster Hunter? No come on what are you doing?

I'm not a big mobile gamer, I prefer not to play the so called "console type games" on them but I'd like to point out a couple of things.

How are you meant to feel threatened by a Rathalos when it's the size of a postage stamp?
Most phones screens that are capable of playing these games are about the same if not bigger than PSP/3DS screens.

How are you meant to concentrate when your game is constantly interrupted by texts?
You can make it so you can play uninterrupted if you so wish, even without that all you get is a little box in the corner of your screen to say you have a text for me it's no different then when I'm playing any other platform, I just don't put the controller down, I just read the message and go back to the game.

The only thing that these "core" style games on mobile do that prevent me from playing them always seem to be a lot more shallow, even ones like Infinity Blade. Controls, yeah at first they're shit but you do get used to them and after a bit you don't notice them at all.

it wasn't that bad, i have it on my ipod tuch, the controls wern't that great though but it's something to play on the go.
It sucked huge time compared to the actual PSP/3DS version.

It's graphics were okay, but everything about the iPhone version is watered down crap.

If only apple made a official add-on to add controls. icontrolpad and some others look decent but I know a official one would probably look and feel better.

I know of an internal Apple project to bring a physical controller to market, but whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen. As smartphones and tablets come close to equalling the performance of current game consoles, I feel like the controller problem must be addressed.
