Interesting but why a cxi writor if no way to run them, unless it will only be for dev units, since from what I read on 3dbrew then can be run on dev units as a hello world, so maybe it wil "revolutionize" the scene by giving us the inner working of how code runs on the 3DS?
You summed it up perfectly...

If devs know how code is run opportunities to do almost anything becomes possible. This is HUGE. As you all know very well, there are talented devs who need this ability, so this is equivocal to a God send. Great job 3dbrew devs, and especially Xcution :D

Is this correct? that's what CiTRus will do? Enable devs to see how code is ran?

Rom loaders and region free is nice and all, but I would love to see retro emulators running on the 3DS before all else! :D
How retro do you have to go before it is not considered Piracy? (Morally not legally)

Edit: I probably should have started a new thread with that one.

Go ahead and do that. I have an answer to that, but it's long. :-)

I would say two Generations on home consoles and any hand held Gen that is no longer supported by the current machine. I myself is eagerly waiting on a close to perfecr SNES Emu and GBA.

probably whatever this is and combined with neimods ram dumper it will, but is his dumper only for dev or cex unit or does it work on both?

If the 3DS get hacked, I think we will be able to emulate NES, SNES, PS1, GB, GBC, GBA and maybe N64.

Those were ports/remakes, not emulations of the original N64 games. It takes much more power to emulate a N64 game, as opposed to remaking it to be optimized for the hardware in question (3DS). The 3DS doesn't even have anywhere near as much processing power as the N64 (believe it or not), it's just much more well optimized.

Anyway, this is getting quite off topic, so I'll be happy to talk to you more about this over PM, or in a more relevant thread. :-)

No, you're wrong. While it probably can't emulate the N64, it's certainly more powerful than it.

I'm talking hardware specs, not the optimization of the games. Overall, 3DS is a much more "powerful" system because it's much more optimized. But unless I'm mistaken, the physical specs on the 3DS are weaker. (I've been trying to find charts to compare the two, and I'm having trouble finding anything).

I've just been playing Mario64, mario Kart 64 and Zelda OOT on my midrange android phone Scorpion s2 with adreno205 gpu with a bit of O'clocking (oldish now, 2 generations behind latest tech).

I dam well hope my 3ds has the same ability or i will feel majorly ripped OFFF!!

I really like the idea of an all in one portal device that can play GB/GBC/GBA/NES/SNES/GG/SMS/SMD. I know a PSP can do this and considered getting one for just that purpose a few months back, but things didn't go as planned and as of right now I don't really want to blow $100+ on a PSP to use just for portable retro gaming. I have no real interest in PSP games at all. Morally, I don't really consider it "bad" to download a game for a console you can no longer buy new at general retailers, but I do still consider it illegal and such. Anyways, lets try not to get too far off topic. Anyone know when the next Homebrew Contest will be held?

No, you're still really wrong. Go look up the individual specs for each console if you disagree.

And no amount of optimization will get you from the top image (N64) to the bottom (3DS).

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon

Too bad Excite Truck wasn't multi player :(
