Final Fantasy XI is in its 10th year of service this year, and Square Enix will be celebrating through an event -- not an online event, a real life event.

The "A Decade of Final Fantasy XI Vana Festa 2012" event will be held on June 23 and June 24. The exact location of the event isn't clear yet, but based off the map Square Enix posted at the the event official site it appears to be in the Tokyo area.

This seems interesting, too bad it's only in Japan.

Well someone has to say it.

REMAKE VII ALREADY. OMFGZ

Any remake of FFVII would cause more crying than it would acclaim. People consider it such a flawless classic that almost any change to it would be a mortal sin. If you make cutscenes they'll say they "ruined the characters". Change the gameplay and they've "ruined a perfect formula". Change the music and they "shamed an amazing score". Redo the graphics and they've "taken away the classic feel of the original".

Not to mention everyone else would cry more about Squenix "rehashing" and "milking" instead of releasing a new Final Fantasy which they could complain about for the same reasons.

Even though I enjoy the DS remake FF IV, it doesn't have the "charm" that was in the original. One could say the same for something like FF VII.

Why can't we get this here?

FF11 is important to Americans too, you know!

I met my wife on FF11.

played that game for so many years...to bad abysea and the cap up from 75 pretty much ruined the game -_-

now to wait for SE to fix the disaster that was FF14....2.0 is way too far away.

From what I heard, Abyssea has made the game fun again from a lull.

Coming from a few old linkshell members that still play.

Wow, this sounds great! And while everyone's together there, they could all talk about Final Fantasy XIV and how wonderf- oh, right.

Huh, kind of a bummer.

@Xdqwerty, Don't use games that have Easy Anti-Cheat as its been exploited many times.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare
