@xpgnome: Btw, say fun, not funnier.

I would really appreciate if I could beta test because I want tto take an action in helping, but haven't learned much c++. I know general terms and can give you bug reports. I think this project is amazing and already much better than Lumikha because:
1. When I start Lumikha's survival in the menu it crashes meaning it has low stability
2. From the bit in the menu I saw of Lumikha, it was waaaaay slower than your game's saving and loading.

If I can test, I will reply with my e-mail, and then edit it out later because I don't like giving it to the public. I have a DSTwo with a DSi and (though currently I can't find it) I have an r4i v1.4 and action replay DSi (which can run minimal homebrew). I will be checking this post daily.

I was going to send out beta's before the current release... but Ray released it before I could send it out...

Currently I don't need beta testers.

It depends whether it was more fun or more funny
But yeah, using more fun, fun, more funny is a lot better than funnier.

Awwww. Just ask if you ever need them.

I see you shrunk the tiles in the photo and added hiding some underground blocks. Can you use the lighting system to darken everything at night and make torcher light it up (basically dynamic lighting)? Also since by smealum's response I heard it wasn't that hard to change the tilesize, would it be possible to eventually (probably way later after you get a meanu and stuff) make an option for tilesize? Thanks for yourr time reading this :) .

With the way we (actually he) made the 16x16 size, it shouldnt be hard to have such an option. If I remember right, you can resize tiled BG's in a easy way :D

I have several suggestions for updates.

The "Survival Update":
  • The main change would be the loss of items after death.
  • To make that fair you have to make the crafting item, chest.
  • Zombies/Aggresive mobs don't attack when a block wall is between you and them; mob sight.
  • The last thing would be the addition of a light system so mobs don't spawn in lit areas.
The "Crafting Update 1":
  • This would add various tools such as cobblestone, iron, gold, and diamond.
  • Also it would add the rule where you can only break diamond ore wih iron tools and so on.
The "Crafting Update 2":
  • This update adds the following craftable items:
  1. Furnace
  2. Form the furnace, sand-glass, cobblestone-stone, and iron ore-iron ingot.
  3. 4 sand crafts into one sandstone.
The "Menu Update":
  • This would like the title says, add a menu containing:
  1. Tilesize
  2. Maybe texture pack, but this depends on a lot of things.
  3. Save/Load Worlds maybe with names
  4. Control scheme option.
The "Perfection Update":
  • Add particles
  • Add breaking block noise.
  • Change leaves sprites to be half transparent (like real minecraft's "Fancy" setting).
  • If not done in previous update, add texture pack support.
  • Maybe add the actual movement of the block sprite while crafting, not just it appearing there whe you tap; dragging the sprite.
  • Also, add a background to the crafting screen.
  • Add sun/moon.
  • Optionally make the items appear smaller in your inventory and add a crafting box in the inventory like in Smealum's DsCraft.
Lastly, the "Caves Update"
  • This would add the generation of caves going up to the surface.
Don't feel like i'm trying to make you do any of this right now or even soon. I'm just making a long list of my ideahs all at once. (I just don't want this to sound like a newbie listing off their plans they want some homebrew coder to write like this post: http://gbatemp.net/t...a-like-game-2d/

Also, I don't know much about programming but I'm just wondering why you load the whole (or most) of the map into the DS (I'm guessing it's ram) instead of loading chunks like real Minecraft and DsCraft by Smealum do. I could be wrong about the loading most of the map, but whn I was at bedrock, I heard zombies following me at the top of the map.

You can also probably ask smealum for these parts if you need help because they're in his DsCraft:
  • Draggable sprites in inventory
  • Small inventory with crafting screen
  • Loading de-loading, and rewriting chunks
  • Dynamic lighting

--Editted to add last part and two more settings--

Wow, I like that list, and yes practically everything there is planned.

At one point multiplayer + infinate maps will be added, I'll tell you when it does happen.

There are some extra things that I have planned but, you'll find about them later...

One thing I don't know how to do is chests (from a technical point of view).
Because a block can only hold 16 ints worth of data.

But the next update will probably be a big update.
(it'll take a while to make though xD)

Temporarely can you make a chest be like a crafting table; only store 9 slots. I'm guessing the memry per block isn't exceeded with only nine slots because the crafting table stores that information without a problem. But in a future update you should still figure out how to add more slots. You can also make the chests take up two blocks and make them hold 18 slots. Now would be a good time to ask some other homebrew coders like Smealum, or Idk, SpinalCode? I also forgot another update I wanted to include. Throughout them all, bug fixes like so you dn't fly up when you close a door on yourself, and maybe making the door's collision field thinner so it's like 0.1x2. Lastly, like you said, once everythings completed, multiplayer.

Just giving you some facts, real Minecraft's chests hold 27 and two chests combined hold 54. Then again, real minecraft uses a 32 bit computer and has many more blocks. Also when you say they can actually hold 16 blocks each do you mean like 1 cobblestone, 1 sand, 1 coal, etc. or did you account for multiple items per slot.
