Hacking Should I buy a Ez-Flash Vi Card?

I don't know anything about cards but afters hours of searching I finally got the hint that Gold 2.0 sucks and Ez is one of the better cards. Should I get Ez or another card? Ez is compatible with all DS games? I have a classic DS.

EZ-Flash Vi looks like a nice card.
It has been updated for DSi 1.4.3 and 3DS 2.1.0-4

The only question which I cannot be bothered searching for is "How about the game compatiblity?"
I must say I would buy an EZ-Flash Vi regardless of the game compatibility, because I'm pretty sure the EZ-Vi would play all of the games I currently have on my DSTwo.
(And the EZ-Vi also has a side-loaded microSD card slot, which I think is awesome since it looks like a normal DS game when you look at it from the outside.)

That's really up to you. For what it's worth I like the EZ5, actually for general DS ROMs and homebrew usage I prefer it to my SCDS2. Things that take advantage of the SCDS2's CPU are a totally different story though. Updates for the EZ5 are slow right now, but they seem to be slow right now on just about every cart that isn't running Wood or AKAIO. There are only a couple ROMs that I care to play that are not working on the latest firmware and Kirby Mass Attack can be patched and Puzzle Quest 2 works on the 2.0 line of firmware.

I suspect you'll be hammered shortly w/ a mess of, "Buy an AceKard/SCDS2/R4i/etc. it's what I have and it's awesome!" Not to suggest that those carts don't have their merits, but you should read the reviews and make your own decision.

I would not recommend the card, not anymore. I have had the thing for quite some time, it bricked a week or two ago but that is not the reason why I dont recommend it. The compatibility is not really bad or anything its just that the card has not gotten a update in a long time now. There are still some older games that are not working at all not that many but puzzle quest 2 is one of them. The only real benefit now over the acecard and r4 is that it has realitme save and guide however real time save is quite buggy and always has been. You are not on a dsi/3ds so the fact that updating the card to the latest firmware of the card needed to run the latest dsi/3ds firmware is risky (it bricked my card) but still something you may wanna keep in mind.

Thanks for all the responses. They were all great. Except for the guy who said I should look at the reviews and make my own decision. I don't wanna make my own decision!

I kid. I dont know why you brought up 3dS games for EZ-Flash Vi. You're saying that if i only want to play DS games, I can do it, but if I try to play 3dS it may crash?

Okay, the EZFlash-Vi is a DS-mode only Flash Cart. Since you have an original DS then you can easily upgrade the firmware properly. The kernals are easy to install too (just drop them on your SD card).

I personally LOVE the two that I've purchased. One for me and one for my wife. (Though we only currently have my 3DS, we plan to get a pair of DSi XLs in the future.) There are very few games that don't work on this card, and it works with a decent majority of homebrew. Personally, I find DS homebrew lacking compared to Wii and PS3, so I don't do a lot with it.

Something to note: If a DS game can communicate with a Wii game, it WILL work. I've done this with Batman The Brave and The Bold for the Batmite feature. Works flawlessly. If a game requires you to receive information through DS-Download Play, then it will NOT work, since the card is flashed to act like a certain game (Tak for older firmware, Guilty Gear for newer firmware.) All in all, the EZFlash-Vi is probably the easiest Flash Cart to work with, has great compatibility, and is still being supported faithfully. Also, I made a nice Zelda skin for it.

For the price, EZFlash-Vi is a great choice. Just be sure you set it up the right way. Plenty of tutorials on that around here.

And something to think about, if you're looking into using Real-Time Save and Real-Time Guide, then understand that this card is far from perfect on that. If you just want to play your games the way they are on the DS, then this card is just fine.

Oh, and don't but it on that site you linked to. That's almost twice what I got mine for. I recommend Price Angels. You'll have to Google it though, since the Temp has a filter for that site for some reason. Their shipping is a bit slow, but its free and I've never had issues with them.

Nintendo has been blocking flash carts w/ firmware updates on the DSi and 3DS. The EZVi's firmware (the software stored in on the EZ5 itself) is updatable to combat that. Updating the firmware on anything is risky, but in particular this last firmware update has bricked some EZVi's. You probably will not have to worry much about firmware updates on the EZVi because you are using it on a regular DS and won't need to update because Nintendo blocked the EZV. It is pretty rare for a new kernel (the system software on the SD) to require a firmware update, so for the most part you won't need to worry about it... Unless you buy a DSi or 3DS.

I've updated the firmware on two EZVi's successfully though. One was a yellow sticker and the other a white sticker, both hardware revision H805. I don't know how much that has to do w/ my "luck".

Really, is there a cart that actually has stable RTS? The SCDS2 certainly doesn't.

English : This cart is very "premium" compared the the R4 and such.
There is no stable real time menu as a flash cart doesn't have direct hardware access. qlum said that the EZ-Vi was a horrible cart that bricked in 2-3weeks.
He must've beaten the shit out of it or treated it like garbage. I've had this one for half a year, no problems.

I recommend this one over every other cart, except for the SUPERCART DSTWO if you're really bent up on spending an extra 25$ and getting Slowmotion, freecheat, and of couse Supercart's trademark GBA and SNES Emulators.
