Fuck.

I feel like this means another "Resident Evil 5". Where you'll get a shit-for-brains AI that basically makes the game half as fun unless you're able to find someone to co-op with. At least with RE5 you could go online and find someone.

I really just wish they'd make like RE4 single player games.

Nothing has ever shown that the game has forced Co-Op. In fact, the game seems pretty reliant on making you feel as alone as possible, unless the entire game has changed since the last trailer was shown. What they most likely mean is that they have a demo of The Mercenaries 3D on there, similar to how The Mercenaries 3D had a demo of Revelations (I'm going out on a limb here and hoping they haven't decided to put a fully fledged Mercenaries minigame into it, 'cause that'd just mean there was never any point in getting The Mercenaries 3D).

We also know fuck all about the actual game at this point, so assuming we know what they are aiming for game play wise at this point would be nothing but presumptious. There is, from my understanding, a rather short demo on The Mercenaries, and that's about it. That is also a very early demo relative to the game's release, which is still TBA last I knew. If you allow for two players to play the campaign at the same time, which is likely what they mean when they say there can be two players, then the maps will have to be built around two person exploration. If they are built around two person exploration, you better be ready for some shitty AI.

When they say one or two players, you already have to abandon essentially every multiplayer option. After what they did with RE5 multiplayer wise, people are going to be expecting at least that much out of every RE game to come that tries to offer it. There is also that wireless play bit, which infers that they want you close together playing for teamwork. That screams coop of some sort.

Gambia, The
2 Player-mode might as well just be some kind of mini game / special mode. I really hope there is no forced co-op. As much as I am a fan of co-op, if it's forced as in Resident Evil 5 then it's just a mess.

The Demo in RE:Mercs is rather short, but didn't Capcom say they were pretty intent on keeping the scary, isolated feeling? I suppose you can do that with two people, but I find games to be significantly less scary when there are 2 people or more. Except Clock Tower.

Either way though, I was never really interested in this title, but I do want to see how it turns out. I do hope the online play will be something like RE5's where you can do the entire campaign together, and I hope it supports voice chat. More likely than not, though, knowing Capcom, it'll be the entire freaking Mercenaries 3D game, causing everyone who bought Mercenaries 3D to get upset.

What do you mean we know "fuck all" about the actual game? How much do you actually have to see? We've had multiple demos, multiple gameplay videos, multiple cinematic trailers - and none of them have ever even remotely hinted at forced Co-Op. If that isn't enough, forced Co-Op goes against everything Capcom has said about the game - so why the heck anyone even thinks that's the case is beyond me. I can totally see Capcom forcing Co-Op in the game that returns to the roots of the series, with its limited ammo and focus on exploration and atmosphere. That'd be a great way of doing things, wouldn't it?

When they say one or two players, you already have to abandon essentially every multiplayer option. This makes no sense. It says "Players: One (Wireless Mode: Two)". Where does it say "we're making every Resident Evil game from here on out have forced Co-Op and any time we mention multiplayer, we mean you have to live with crappy AI or spend half an hour connecting to people online"?

Bleedin' hell, I've heard of assuming the worst but this is just ridiculous. There's multiplayer in it and all of a sudden everyone's jumping to conclusions about forced Co-Op even though no trailer that has ever been released for the game has ever shown anything of the sort!
