Any idea about this error message?
Does it only happen on one particular font file? If so, send it over.

Nope, on every single font I've tried. (I tried English fonts from Final Fantasy III US, Japanese fonts from Tokimeki memorial Girl's Side 1 and 2, and Love Plus.) The program worked fine but I once I clicked Character Map, I always got the error message.

Examples of the fonts I tried;
Font from Final Fantasy III (English)

Font from Ouran Host Club DS (Japanese)
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0ByfDJ9iEbm...mZTU3&hl=en

Font from Tokimeki memorial (Japanese, extracted from static.dat file with Noitora's tool.)
*This is the main font that I want to edit.* (It needs 90 degree rotation.)

i finally got around to updating my old version, and i noticed an issue. it looks like the case of the padding box being blank is not properly handled. it throws an exception whenever you delete the number in the padding box prior to typing a new one.

is it just something on my end? i think i have a decent idea why this feature was added, and surely someone else would have noticed it by now...

Pressing the Apply changes button every time a character is changed is really tiring, can you add an auto-update option?Added.

I couldn't open character map.I wasn't able to reproduce this error, but I set some additional default values in case your runtime isn't setting them for whatever reason. Let me know if that fixes it.

Fixed.

With this program, could I create chars?
Not yet, but many fonts have Greek/Cyrillic letters that you can replace with the characters you want to use instead.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention, the max line length calculation seems a bit off. i think it thinks the spaces are 1 wider than they actually are, so it will cut off a line at 150 pixels even if the setting is 155 (if there are 5 spaces in the line), or something like that. also, it doesn't take the offset value into account when calculating the line length. perhaps just look at the offset of the last letter in the line and add that?

also, the padding label/textbox should probably be anchored to the left rather than to the right... it behaves oddly if you resize the window.

thanks again!

Thanks for taking a look at the problem and for v.1.8. Unfortunately, the character map still didn't work for me. Not sure what caused the problem though. I tried uninstalling .net framework and reinstalled it but still couldn't get the Character Map to work. T_T

Does this happen for every game you try? I'm not doing anything special for spaces, just using whatever width the font specifies.

well, just the one game.

oops, you're right, it has nothing to do with spaces. it seems that it's just a straight +7 or something for some reason. even if i just put two a's together on one line (line length as measured by MSPaint: 10 px, or 9 px if you ignore the offset), NFTRedit will refuse to put them on the same line until you increase the max line length to 16. a value of 15 will result in the second a being put on the second line (clearly, a result that doesn't make sense).

hope this helps!

Ok Darth, seeing you may not respond back to me on Romhcking.net knowing Nightcrawler would ban me there for asking this,

I need to know why your program does not support Crystal Tile NFTR sizes 13x13 through 16x16?

I figure it could have some issue with both code and memory restrictions that could cause other problems inlcuding Stop Errors that has happened on me once when trying to load a font with a resizing issue, that is why the error "Chunk is not CWDH format." happens, it is more of an unsupported size used under CrystalTile's format, and I need to know why it is like this Darth?

Please respond back soon.

Nothing... I tried it... but now It doesn't say NTFR Is not compatible... Memory overflow is the error...

Mmm... But in Crystal Tile 2 the font can be loaded...

I think Lyan's trying to tell you alternative NFTR formats aren't supported by the NFTR editor

I wrote an utility to convert new ntfr file type to old one (and vice versa).
Simple drop ntfr file onto one of the panels. When converting old type to new,
you must input number from *.info.txt file (which is created when you convert new type to old)
into text box below panels.
