Trump unilaterally deciding he's now Venezuela's king is orders of magnitude more corrupt than that. This can only possibly make things more violent/chaotic, and I don't foresee a majority of Venezuelans accepting the US government's authority over them.
and I seriously doubt Venezuelans want to be ruled over by a demented pedophile any more than we in the US do.
You would likely be
very wrong then.
I'd wager that nearly/over half of the
whole Latin America would rather be ruled by the US (Trump, Kamala, Biden, whoever) over their local overlords, since "corruption" in the US is child's play next to what happens down here.
The common people do not care about the squabbles of the "ruling class" or "the nobility".
They want to live their lives in peace.
At least with Maduro gone there is now immediate
hope for a better tomorrow in Venezuela.
The people there know that the future is uncertain now, but it's at least apparently better than being ruled by a ruthless dictator.
They also know Trump didn't do it for their sake and they don't GAF.
trump unilaterally overthrew a government and kidnapped its leader specifically to seize the country's resources and that is bad
"maduro-"
don't make me tap the fucking sign
In this particular case, context makes a world of a difference.
The people there had NO ACCESS to their own resources and a terrible life.
Now there is some
hope for change.
Trump talking constantly about oil being the reason will be ignored.
Trump lying about the fentanyl coming from Venezuela will be ignored.
Trump illegally bombing boats will be ignored.
Trump illegally killing civilians during the strike to get Maduro will be ignored.
Trump threatening to invade other resource rich countries will be ignored.
This literally does not matter to the thing in point (Maduro getting deposed).
We can all be glad for it, while denouncing Trump's BS along the way.
The issue is people focusing on "muh sovereignty" when discussing this, which makes absolute zero sense.
I don't expect Venezuela to finally acquire peace and freedom now, just for a new internal conflict, since his dictatorship must have had support from a lot of people to continue, just like any other.
P.S.: "International Laws" are a joke. Laws only have a purpose if there exists something to enforce them.
They are just pretty idealism written on a sheet of paper otherwise.
We're all on a disguised piracy site FFS.
