Nintendo 64 emulation on Retroarch

So, how's N64 emulation through RetroArch nowadays? I'm thinking about playing Diddy Kong Racing but every information I find is old
 
Very poor

There is a memory leak, so the games will slow down over time (can take a few minutes or an hour depending on the game)

Also you have to switch the audio driver from switch_thread_audren to just switch_thread or the damn thing will freeze eventually (Why is it not set to that by default? Why even have other options? Great questions)

This sucks...
cant you inject the game to nso 64?
Is there a compatibility list? I suppose not all games run well
