Thanks for the answers everyone. I understand more clearly now, it's SX OS that does it, not the chip or it's FW. Bummer, was hoping something could be done through FW.This is exactly correct. This would need to be implemented in Atmosphere, and as @SciresM doesn't condone piracy with Atmosphere there is a good chance this will not happen. Sorry.

AMS 'not condoning piracy' has always seemed like a joke to me. There's plenty of piracy w\o USB storage and AMS is, arguably, the easiest gateway to doing so. But, if that REALLY is THE THING that keeps the ninjas at bay, I get it. It's just hard for me to believe that USB storage is the line to not cross.
New hope: PicoFly opens the floodgates on programmers into the scene and we get AMS alternatives.
