3DS model or 2DS? Firmware? I've went through the same experience as yours but I managed thanks to Versehell and I also read some tutorials on this site.
Can someone just make a noob friendly step by step from the very beginning in english not spanish tutorial on how to install this or any other cfw? Over 50 pages of text assuming that the user is coming from an existing CFW and knows what they're doing.
Otherwise, this thread is just a bunch of random statements and questions that have already been asked that ultimately lead to nowhere.
It's not so hard to understand how to setup this if you already installed some CFW, if not maybe it will might be a little hard.
I confess that I really respect the guys who post amazing stuff here but they forget that noobs are here too hehe, making a noob friendly tutorial will help a lot, killing many questions (not all but many). I would like to understand every step and here I couldn't so I had to find more informations in other forums like 3DSISO and Spanish Forums.

It depends of your firmware, first you have to install devmenu (or any other cia installer like FBI or BBM) with the pasta cfw. They're two version of it :
- The main one which recquires cubic ninja. It works on all firmwares from 4.1 to 9.2, but your last firmware digit (for example, 9 in 4.2.0-9E) must be 7 or more.
- The MSET only on 4.X consoles (so no 2DS unfortunately). It requires a ds flashcart if your last digit is under 7 tough.
1. If you have a ds flashcart : Just execute the gw_installer (you can find it on the gateway site) with it and follow the instructions
2. If you don't have one (your last firmware digit must be 7 or more to use this) :
- Download the code.bin and put in your sd card root
- Scan this qrcode :
- In the browser, wait until you see the bottom screen "flashes" then hard shutdown your console.
(Note that if you have a gateway or a mt-card, you don't need to do all of this, just install a cia installer on your emunand then follow this http://www.rxtools.net/#!howto -replace the rxTools.dat with one the two versions in the OP-)
Quite simply, it doesn't require a gateway card. It's a pretty darn good alternative for those of us that don't care to sink a bunch of money into a gateway card.
The one thing that this does that Gateway doesn't is the ability to use retail cartridges with signature checks disabled, meaning that SaveDataFiler can be used to export retail cartridge saves.

So i read that installing any other CFW will replace Gateway Launcher.dat or something that replaces Gateway exploit would occur.
Is installing rxtools going to replace my Gateway FW? I only have 1 SD card, but did read that I could use a program called multitools ( i think to allow dual booting)
In Short, does installing rxtools prevent me from using Gateway 3DS to launch roms using the multi-launcher?

RxTools will prevent you from using EmuNAND since you have to format EmuNAND from Gateway's Menu in order to update your EmuNAND from rx Mode.
Installing rxMSET will replace your Gateway's MSET exploit, so you should load rxMode through the browser instead if you intend on using it just on 4.X firmware.

As is written, this is a loaded question. The process can be done one of several ways, depending on what your current firmware is, but at a high level, one could get into gateway's launcher with a basically empty SD card, set up emuNAND, run pasta, run FBI, install either FBI/dev menu/big blue/red menu to the emunand, and copy over the files you need to get rxTools booting (there's more than one way for this to be booted as well)
I basically have a 3DS XL that's on 4.5 firmware that has Gateway with emunand (J-Console)
I also have, can't remember the firmware but a USA 3DS XL that can run Ninjax, so either method is fine (or both)

they bought their own game on a key site and checked where they came from and it turned out they were review copies he had given out by email to someone
so that seems to be a pretty common thing, i kinda blame the dev for that one though as they were giving out like 5 keys to someone just because they asked for multiple copies for review for whatever reason and there were multiple people doing this. he should've seen the red flags
