The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword's motion control scheme is here to stay, series boss Eiji Aonuma has said.

Despite initial misgivings about requiring players to use the Wii Remote's MotionPlus attachment, Aonuma now believes buttons are a thing of the past for the Zelda series.

"I honestly think we cannot go back to button controls now", Aonuma revealed in a new ONM interview (via Kotaku). "So I think that these controls will be used in future Zelda titles, too."

Nintendo demonstrated a Zelda "experience" for the Wii U during its unveiling at E3 this year.

The Wii U's tablet controller was used as a touch-screen inventory.

Will players be asked to use a Wii Remote Plus and tablet controller together? Or will the inevitable Wii U incarnation include better usage of the tablet, too?

Zelda games for handheld systems will presumably keep the series' classic button controls. After this year's re-release of Ocarina of Time, the next 3DS Zelda game will be all-new, Aonuma recently said.

I'm not sure I like this. On one hand, I felt the Wii Motion+ worked well for SS, but I still like the button setup and wouldn't want to see that just not be used anymore.

I didn't see them say specifically that they will be using motion controls, rather them saying they wont go back to buttons.
So maybe we will get touch screen controls?

It has been my experience that most people who complain to me about the Wii MotionPlus controls in Skyward Sword were somehow using them incorrectly. Personally, I think this is great news.

    Read the bold part?
I'm having some difficulty, how am I using it incorrectly? Every other motion game I'm fine with, when it comes to SS, it's a mess.

I had no problem with the motion controls in Skyward sword I just would rather use a normal controller, that way every button I input results in the same thing every time and there is no "random" factor like there is with motion controls.

What motion controls? :wtf: Uhh anyways, it may be a good thing if it (motion controls) worked out on Skyward Sword.

WiiU Zelda could be really exciting ;) Imagine swinging the Wiimote+ (sword), guarding with Nunchuck (shield) and finally accessing the inventory in REAL TIME! (tablet)

    That is too much.

Umote does have motion control, so I figure it can imitate everything of zelda ss except motion sword combat

    Or

they make the game use motion controls like zelda ss then mod the enemies to fight like the old zeldas.
(As in the combat wouldn't be the same)

YAY! Bye bye traditional controls! I love swordplay games where I can swing like a true knight! :D Now I want Ubi to bring on Red Steel 3!

I can imagine having the tablet on my lap while swinging the Wiimote around and the tablet falling off my lap and breaking.

I'm actually loving this. Bring on motion controls. Better swordplay and harder puzzles for me to work with. :D

I think this is great news. It took me at least 5 hours to fully understand the controls but now I don`t see me going back to the button controls since it feels so natural. So I actually would welcome this!

I liked skyward sword, but I was really looking forward to play the new zelda with the buttons on the tablet controller.

    Best news ever...

It would be dumb to get rid of that amazing control scheme.

I don't see any problems with motion controls for the future Zelda games. They work perfectly in Skyward Sword, so, why not? Bring it on, Nintendo!

They should include different control types, let the people use the one they feel better with.
