Youtube videos are far too huge and complex for the ds to cope with. If you look at all the ds video players that exists, the videos need to be converted first, it just cant cope with a normal format.
I give up.
why would it be required for videos to be converted to DPG or any other ds format? it is possible to code a player which can handle other formats too. for this specific purpose, one could create a video player specifically for playing 3gp.spinal_cord said:2. ALL videos would need to be converted to a DS friendly format BEFORE downloading to the DS, the DS is not fast enough to convert a video in any reasonable time. Remember home PC's in the early 90's? no? well full motion video was barely possible and at best, really poor, never mind converting a video clip in less than a couple of hours.
Because the DS doesn't have the power to play back regular, unmodified movie files. I think it was Chuckstudios that once worked on a generic MPEG player for the DS. It ran at 5 fps.matrix121391 said:It might be possible. Don't they have a DS TV that's available only in Japan?
TV is a completely separate over-the-air technology. It's not wifi, and I'd be surprised if the DS itself handled all the processing rather than letting the TV addon handle most of it.

wasup said:For all of you who are saying that videos need to be converted to dpg first, ur wrong. Don't forget homebrews such as tuna ds, tuna-vids,etc.(i think thats what it was), which allows you to watch .avi files :3. yes they were converted to 256x192 on the spot, but still, it worked :3, why not do the same for flvs. Also wifi speed on the ds isn't so very slow as you guys say it is, I can browse quite quickly through DSO and bunjaloo, and i can dl zips etc, not as fast as pc but close enough.psycoblaster said:wasup said:I'm pretty sure its possible, as the DS isn't as weak as most people make it out to be. Its just that currently DS developers don't have the required software to utilize the full potential of the DS's hardware.
You have to remember that with hombrew everything is compiled by the community for the community. So libraries and development software, go only as far as the leading heads of the DS homebrew scene want it to.
What I'm hoping is that the HomeBrew bounty will attract more amateur and experienced developers onto the DS Homebrew scene. Such as myself, and hopefully you. =]
wrong, wrong, and errrrrm... wrong
So your basically saying the developers that work for Nintendo officially are stuck using DEVkit...Yeah GG. =]
GWizard said:A homebrew that let you browse on youtube and watch youtube videos.
Is it possible?
browsing on youtube might be possible but videos are... no.
well it's possible with win2ds (you can browse, and probably watch) . But it doesn't work the way you are thinking about.
Oh i just remembered!!! You can view them like a charm!!!
Go to google, type in "psycoblaster's youtube4DS"
currently it's version 0.04 so only videos 4 minutes or less.
remember - you need a fake R4 and a bricked DS, or else it doesn't work.
but when did I ever mentioned the developers working for nintendo? i didn't even use the words "developer" or "nintendo".
have you ever played a game that has lagged on your DS? well what does that mean? have you figured out now?
full potential of the DS's hardware
well yeah I might be wrong on that but if a commercial games made for the DS lags, if it did use the full potential, just think how unplayable it will be.
Just go to google and look at the specs of an NDS, and you'll see that it IS weak as people think.
DS isn't as weak as most people make it out to be
well, wikipedia says it too!
One 67 MHz[1] (ARM) and one 33 MHz ARM7TDMI
that is something that you can't change, unless some type of hardmod changes the processing unit of the DS o.O
as far as the leading heads of the DS homebrew scene want it to
hmmm
that statement would be true if you reworded it. but "want it to?"
and "leading heads???"
there is no "top creator" of homebrew; there might be somebody that's good at programming, but that does not make them a leading head.
i'll reword it for you:
So libraries and development software, go only as far as the knowledge of the "leading heads".

I think even the ipod nano has a better CPU. I know it has like 32 mb of RAM.Sp33der said:You meana phone is even more powerful than a DS?(talking video-wise)
