Chances are you're going to need access to the sources in order to do whatever you want, and it's not open-source.
It's still being worked on, it's just not going to be released early for one game (the sonic racing one) when there's a viable workaround.

I'm not mocking you, I'm being realistic by saying that if you don't have the sources you can't do any sort of modification and that depending on what you want to do this may be way over your head.

On the other hand, what you're trying to do could possibly be done another way in five minutes with little effort, but if you don't tell us what it is you kill that possibility.

For stupid reasons I have to use an older firmware (4.17 I think).

I want to try and replace JUST the updated games part of the firmware and see if that works.

The loaders are built-in to the firmware on the official FW, so the only way to update that would be to update the whole FW.
On AKAIO, it is "ak2loader.nds"

I believe it would be copyright against the AKAIO Team if you modified the loader and then released it. That or it'll just piss them off so for the sake of the continuation of AKAIO and the dignity of the devs, stop what your doing.
