Yeah, works great. I just taped the cable down and kept it away from the heatsinks. It's a xk3y-R on the final software revision.Wait wait, that has to go in the back. Did it work like that?

I am completely stupid. I always thought the long cable was for if you couldn't get the short one to fit in the back, because of complications of closing everything back up. Wow. That is insane.DinohScene posted this about the 2 cables in another thread;
So I thought it was common knowledge.
Xkey can be mounted on the front and on the back, the longer flat cable is for the front, smaller for the back yep.
Wouldn't make much sense for suppliers to supply a long and short cable if it's intended for back usage only haha.
It has to be less than 2TB in size I believe. Folder named "games" in all lower case in the root of the drive and the cfg file in the root. I have my firmware.bin in there too on my HDD but I don't believe that's necessary. Should work.Hi;
Need Help BADLY with my old Xbox 360 and Xkey... We had an external hard drive attached to the xkey and it crapped out so I went out and purchased a new powered Seagate Hard Drive.... I formatted it to NTFS, added a file labeled "games" and the xkey config file...... I have attached the hard drive back to the xkey and now the "mixed media" screen is not even showing....
Any help would be greatly appreciated; Old man trying to get my kids system working; Unfortunately, he is learning challenged and most of the games we had on the old drive were for his development.....If anyone can help it would be a GOD send..
So far I have been lucky, every USB stick and HDD I have tried has worked. Even with the long cable my xk3y picks up the drive with just under 100 games quite fast, it is formatted to ext4.Not every drive is going to work. I had to try a few. Now, as I recall, the short cable is, for my preference, too short but boots up quicker, it seems. If the board was set up with the ribbon coming from the other end it would have been easier to make the shorty work but I but I got it happening perfectly and the drive took over ten minutes to recognize the games on the first attempt and then after that less than 3 seconds every time after that.
I bought that drive at Costco on sale and it was pretty cheap. I had several drives that I could have used but non worked.
Also, I am still struggling to get xbox backup creator to work. I have the flashed 800 drive recognized on the program but still... any of you guys recently have done it can share the steps? I followed the tutorial but it didn't work. Maybe there is something missing. How are you guys all doing with this extended indoor vacation?
That's cool. I assume it is just the games that are backward compatible.I had no idea I could play original Xbox titles through xK3y! I ripped my Fable disk and other than being 4:3 it plays like any other game!
