just tried both Cakes and RxTools 3.0b8 to install it and still no avail. even tried formatting sysnand too. oh well
After doing a bit of reading, if you're on 6.x or above the browser exlpoits install 6.x MSET ROPs and 4.x and 5.x install 4.x MSET ROPs... So you'll have to install the right MSET version according to that

how do I do that? when I try to install mset ropp 6.x it already tells me my console is exploitable due to me installing mset 4.x before that

you need a way of installing FBI or some other CIA installer on sysNAND, get a 6.x MSET CIA and install it (if you're using FBI make sure the destination is NAND)

Scroll down a bit and you'll see a guy got emerald running... You must be doing something wrong, try just loading it into the footer generator, don't change any of the settings and export the footer, this worked perfectly for me for mother 3 and metroid fusion

He ran it and got a white screen. I wouldn't call that running.

Theres a patch to get it to work at https://gbatemp.net/threads/fixes-for-all-gba-pokemons-save-issue-with-agb_firm.390508/ .

I woukld advise for the guide under Ninjhax to explain the difference between the original version and 2.0. You can't use ninjhax 2.0 for this.

You might want Ninjhax 2.0 just to run hoimebrew, since it runs some homebrew on a N3DS faster than the original Ninjhax. I believe you can use a Cubic Ninja .cia to run Ninjhax (I only tried a .3ds on a Gateway, so test it first.)

I run Ninjhax from a CIA so I've tested ;) also very good point I'll edit that in tomorrow, thanks for all of your awesome tips

Just a suggestion: Remind first-time users to "Clear All Save Data" in their 3DS browser settings before trying to boot rxTools, or they may just get an error message. Also, I noticed that the firmware.bin you linked is different from the one downloaded by cdn_download.py for version 2.6, which is much larger.

Will add, the firmware.bin is from the cakes thread and I'm pretty sure its more up to date as midkid just updated the OP like yesterday

Thanks a lot, This guide is good and should eventually be stickied when it fully completed.

Neat, a guide that covers Cakes, along with other CFWs.
I hoped and prayed that someone would write a guide covering it, to calm the clueless. My eyes are getting all moisty.

wow thanks!

OP updated, n3ds guide is slowly but surely coming along

You should mention that Ninjhax 2 is faster than Ninjhax 1 on a N3DS, and that unlike Ninjhax 1, it has sound on a N3DS. So if you have a N3DS, you may want to install Ninjhax 2 with a CIA separately from the CFW, even if you have Ninjhax 1 already.

Also, you should have links to get the OOT save file used for various hacks (and how to install the save file).

The guide should explain what "downgrade MSET" means and why you might want to do it. You do explain later that you can boot from it, but anyone who reads the guide and doesn't know what it is would find that hard to follow. Also, it probably should be listed as optional since you can keep booting using the browser.

You might want a section about what to do if you want to use more than one CFW (or Gateway + a CFW).

Also, on a N3DS, how to update your EmuNAND to 9.5.

idk why cakesfw always get frozen screen when i boot it in NH1.1, i used to do mset reinand. I'm using jp n3dsll w/ 9.1 sysnand and 9.5 jp emunand.
the firmware obtain from the I Say Omen site. decrypt seems work, but just cant boot into emunand

never mind, the firmware.bin is wrong.

Will add the stuff about Ninjhax, the n3ds guide isn't finished and that was actually going to be the next edit I made to the n3ds guide ;) I'll edit the MSET section and add more info, as always you give great constructive criticism

NINJHAX is different from OoTHAX, TUBEHAX and IRONHAX.

What do you want me to name it? Maybe the homebrew launcher?
