Hardware Will Wii VC (via WiiU) stream audio through gamepad headphone jack while using nunchuck/wiimote?

As thread title says. I really want to get Metroid Prime Trilogy, however, I only want to get it if I'm able to use the headphone jack through the gamepad, all the while using the Wiimote and nunchuck... Does it work that way? Or am I SOL and have to just go through TV audio?

I spent a bit trying to go through threads, but couldn't find an answer. If anyone can confirm, it would be much appreciated!!

If playing Wii games in vWii mode with the gamepad ON, audio and video will always play through the gamepad. All you have to do is keep the pad near you while you play. Unfortunately, you can't turn off the screen and get only audio, so keep it on low brightness and powersaving mode.
