I tried to watch a film on putlocker, it is an avi file. But it always just plays audio and not the actual video. However flv files on putlocker do work. Is there a fix for this?

AVI is a container, meaning it is merely a package. It can contain different format of video and audio tracks. It doesn't play video because video track is unsupported.
MP4 is also a container file, just like MKV.
What needs to be done is re-encode the entire video to a supported format. Use Handbrake to re-encode the video into 8-bit H.264, which then Wii U should be able to decode.
But wait, how do i convert it if its on a website? Also i cannot download any files on the wii u
Download the file to your PC. Re-encode the video file with Handbrake (may take long time depending on you strong your PC is). Upload newly encoded mp4 (Handbrake can output mkv too, but select mp4 container instead) to the web.
Seems like that will work, but it is too much hassle, i just want to watch the video straight away on the gamepad. So i guess i wont watch that video.

In any case, Wii U is a terrible device for media player. Either play it on PC or buy a proper media player.
ok cool, im watching it on pc atm. But i wouldnt say it is terrible since it can play many other videos.
It was a hidden feature. Nintendo never advertise it as a media player (in contrast to PS3). People just figure that since it can open mp4, it is a media player.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.

Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
