It night not be an official price cut, just something retailers have cooked up to boost sales.

Retailers have agreed to sell new systems at a set price. If they break that agreement, Nintendo will not provide them with any more consoles.

So, you see, any price cut would have to come from Nintendo.

So is it true or not I mean 299 bucks for a console that's only good if hacked is a bit too much IMO. I will like the 199$ option thank you very much =)

I just love it that Nintendo gets the heat from leaked ads..

and they have the bullshit balls to say "rumor and speculation"

like the fuckin army and government who "can neither confirm or deny xD" when they say that its pretty much...

uh yea..it does exist. but our "higher power" boss will fire us if we say it DOES exist.

(nintendo - um...shit...uhm...yea well...WE WILL MAKE A FUCKING PRICE CUT WHEN WE SAY SO!! so.....THAT "AD" you "people" found means NOTHING!!!!!!...uhm...so....there. we....win... ha ha.....right???)

its funny when money is a motivator for companies

about a couple of months ago : Iwata: Nintendo “Not Thinking About” a Wii Price Cut

now Microsoft does a cut (while eliminating the Middle class Pro edition....like we needed THAT in our economy)

Sony does the Ps3 price cut and the Slim model..

*Nintendo - uhhhhhh.. oh chit. every 1 else doin it. we will miss out. we have to because other company did also. must pursue...mighty U...S....D..fuck....the...fanssss uhm..oh...the wii and DS..ya...um.. it do not print money...sak.

    *broken english was on purpose

DrYHeLL that's what I thought, lol.

I'm not sure but I think he's trying to say that the Wii price cut is only starting to come up because the other consoles got price cuts. Well dude if you're saying that then we can also say sony only put the little 6 axis motion sensor in their ps3 controls because Nintendo had the idea for the wii >.>

Although anyone who permabricks their Wii mostly doesn't deserve another one. The only exception are freak accidents that can't be avoided or if a friend/family member did it. Even then, most people should have the right tools to solve these problems.

Now you can spend the extra $50 you saved on a portable hard drive or a stack of DVDs so you can pirate games. Thanks, Nintendo!

Pointless? This is pretty big news.

A lot of people were seeing if Nintendo would lower the Wii price to compete with the price drops in the PS3 and the 360. Many analyists said they needed to in order to compete with the competition (despite the lead, systems are starting to push a more "family friendly" approach, especially the PS3). One of the initial reasons the Wii did so well comapred to the others was a huge price difference. Xbox launched at like $400. PS3 launched at a ridiculous $600. Little ol' Wii launched at a friendly, "anyone can get it" $250.

I personally was wondering if they'd do this and I think it was wise they did.

I didnt mean that cutting the price was pointless, I meant that saying comfirmed when its not is.

But it DOES seem quite likely.....

Nintendo made it 199 just to make it look less.
