Homebrew Wii motherboard CMOS battery removal open up a wii

Hello all,
I want to open up my wii, however to open it up you have to remove what appears to be a motherboard CMOS battery.
Can anyone let me know what is lost when this is removed?

Hello.:)

The Battery (Type CR2032) is only used for the Wii´s internal Clock.Not more.:)
Savegames are not affected.

    I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
