Hopefully the secret rings will work, It was actually one of my first wii games and a personal favorite for me.
Has a good soundtrack as well... besides sonic adventure 2 battles of course.
Do you think Punchout wii version will work without sensor bar?

I hope so to, and yes punch-out work I have it :)

Skyward Sword doesn't require a sensor bar, if you're using a MotionPlus controller.

Actually, that's not true. It does require a sensor bar on the very first screen to calibrate MotionPlus. You know, that message where it tells you to point at the screen and press A. It may only be this one screen, but since you can't get through it without the Wii recognizing your WiiMote pointing at the screen you technically need a sensor bar to play the game.
It also uses it a little bit throughout the game, although the mp is more important.

Excite Truck is a great game that doesn't need the sensor bar.

That is great, I always wanted to play the wii version of punch out.
Hmm, what about donkey kong country returns?
Idk about that, but I'm pretty sure it will work sense it only a 2.5 sidescrolling platform plus I seen videos, and it looks like it don't need a wii sensor, So... I will have to say yes on this one :)

If we get a good list of this stuff, I will edit the first post of the topic to begin listing all these games, so That people with the same questions can look to this topic to find games that do not require a sensor bar. Perhaps when it accumulates a decent amount of games, we can sticky this topic and edit the title to get rid of the question mark.

This would be perfect, and also I just added some more earlier on page 1.

I just tested guitar hero legends of rock, so Guitar hero games work without the sensor bar as well. Im going to begin adding things to the front page so If y'all could keep the games coming I would appreciate it.

The Sensor Bar is used Exclusively for the Wii Pointer. Doesn't Dolphin have some sort of Mouse to Pointer Mode?. I've never used Dolphin because i have a crap PC. But if it does then i don't see why it would be so hard to make a sensor bar out of a couple candles or IR LEDs.

Yeah, but he's using a Wiimote instead as it makes games easier to play. I suppose that could be a quick fix for games that use it for menus and stuff but other than that it's kind of useless. Let's just say you won't be playing any CoD games using the mouse.

I suppose using the mouse just to begin certain games (like Skyward sword and punchout) is a good option to use, but like suprgamr said, games are much easier to play wiimote style then keyboard style. Especially on my mac, since i dont need a bluetooth dongle when it already has one bulit in.
And like i stated before, there are a number of people who do not feel comfortable putting candles near their computer, and the CD method sometimes works but isnt a solid method of a sensor bar. This thread is for people that have no means of using the alternatives and can instead enjoy certain wii games instead of no wii games at all.

I have to mention that Kirby Epic yarn has minigame where he transforms into a train and you'll have to point at the screen to "paint" the track while he's riding over them. Though it's only used in about 3 or 4 levels, it IS a mandatory thing.

Also...Zelda skyward sword? Can anyone using dolphin confirm this actually working without sensor bar (and not being virtually unplayable)? From sword dashes to flying that bird to swimming and even throwing bombs is all done with the sensor bar and/or motion controls. Frankly: if that game is on the list, you can just as well throw in every other wii game.

I have been wondering about skyward sword for some time, I have yet to personally test it. I think I will remove it from the list for now, until someone can properly test it.

I believe Monster Hunter Tri can be played without the sensor bar. The only usage of it is to catalog different monsters, and viewing detailed text information for materials/weapons/armor. I don't think one of the steps to begin the game is adding a monster to the catalog, but it may be.

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn: Game Cube Controller can be used.

I can confirm it works without Sensor Bar, since I pulled out the sensor bar at my brothers wii to prove that I was right.(While he was playing, he was doing nothing at all just walking and Link could still fight in full state.)

Oh and Super Mario All-Stars as well.

Oh I'll check for more games soon if needed.

No problem I played Fire Emblem to death on Dolphin since my Wii stopped working(it works again now ^^)

Added Sonic Rush and Rock band (all games) To the compat list.
Anybody know if Animal crossing city folk works? If not Ill test it when I get the chance.

Sorry to revive the old thread, but what exactly is the disc method? There's nothing in the spoilers for me.

Please, if you have tested any games that are not on the list, you can post them in this topic and I will add them to the list.
Super Paper Mario doesn't require it ether on most parts which is why I use dolphin and my ps4 remote. I was able to keybind my right analog stick on my remote to act like a Wii remote pointing to the sensor bar:
Capture.PNG

and to hide the pointer, I put the hide as my left stick button on my remote:
Capture0.PNG

and turned on auto hide so when I held the button for long enough the pointer would go away until I moved the right analog stick again:
Capture1.PNG

in the end I was able to allow the pointer to come in and out of the screen without any effort.
