THIS is what gamers today are like? Do you play games just to get to the next one?
Come on people. I that is part of the game. Figuring stuff out. Just getting spoon fed everything is lame and makes for a boring game. "Oh yeah, i beat that game, it was so easy. All the puzzles practically solve themselves" No wonder we have all these entitled people suing over little things. "This game is too harddd wahh". Geez get a grip, game are supposed to challenge you.

Well I know that my post is serious. Pretty much said where the problem lies in the game. LOL XD

It is not difficult, it is stupid, the game asks for a particular sticker to be placed sonewhere so the "puzzle" is solved, now...
What puzzle? you just sticked a sticker there
There´s not even some sort of sticker type, like, there´s a place in which you need a "sucking" sticker, in my logic a "blowing" sticker would do the same, it could be that all "wind" type stickers would do the trick, but, screw my logic, is that particular thingie or nothing.


I put a fan there too if I'm thinking correctly about what you are referring to... I'm having fun although I wish there was more to the story of this game. I feel like I'm just going through a regular Mario game but with a sticker rpg battle system. Fun none the less.

I had to jump in, sorry, this paper mario isn't as well designed as some wish it were. Too many things are way too subtle; for example, anyone remember that tree in the snow area that you end up having to knock down? There are too many choices that could go there, and many have real nasty effects - I mean wasting your super heater sticker... just to hear "dooo doo" and LOSE IT? Come on. It's not like a little mushroom guy was nearby with a clue... nope. And tons of other times I was just realizing that I was wasting an hour or so, and decided to go read a guide. Never was it illogical, it was just too easy to miss/not realize. Anyone remember the torch room where ONE of them was a bit different and then you have to hit it, but not just once, more than once? That's asking for trouble. Someone could see it, say "hey I wonder..." then hit it, and then since nothing really happened then, say "oh well" and carry on.

And that single, SINGLE torch was the ONLY place to get the bulb that you MUST have later!

Listen, I enjoyed it, the polish is really top notch, and I'm glad to have gone through it, but right now I'm at the last boss level/fight (last save point location as far as I can tell) and truly its kinda frustrating at this point...

but I'll enjoy knowing I played it. Just want to move on (Fire Emblem? hmm)...

I finished the game a few weeks ago, having recieved it for Christmas.

While I do agree that certain puzzles (More aimed at the trial and error of placing Thing stickers in places) were not properly executed. Such a system should have worked more like Scribblenauts where anything that could get the job done would work. There was one point where I came across a heap of garbage, and I thought a Fan would do the trick to blow it all away. Nope. I'm not going to say what did work because of spoilers.

But I also believe that most games these days try to hold your hand through to the end, to the point that there is no satisfaction in completing it. And because of that, this generation of gamers have become so entitled to believe that they expect to finish a game with no problems, making the only point of the feat would be to see the purty colours. Games need more difficulty, but not artificial difficulty. For example, when I was 5, I got a Nintendo 64 with Super Mario 64, and it took me a few years of frustration, but I got to the end of the game, and it took eight years for me to collect every Power Star (I can do it in two days now) and to this day it's still my favourite game of all time, because I knew exactly what I had to do while playing through the game, but the challenge was doing it.

PM4 is an easy game to begin with. I do agree that the battle system and the puzzles weren't executed as well (especially compared to its series as a whole), but to have trouble with the puzzles, in the level and during the bosses, and complaining about it isn't wise.

the game is neither easy nor hard.
it is indeed stupid that the 'puzzles' often dont follow much logic and are often trail and error. in addition, it felt pretty cheap when you fail a boss battle, because you run out of stickers to use or something.

there is a huge difference between 'holding the players hand' and just having him try everything until it works. both suck. giving useful hints is not making the game too easy.
the game itself isnt hard. battles, besides from the mentioned bosses when you run out of stickers, are easy. though, since they are often SO easy, they often feel redundant too. and again stupid if you happen to run into like a spiked enemies after using up most not-jump stickers. taking too much time and stuff. they could have made much better with the game. and i feel like they did much better back in super paper mario or the 64 game... though even there, i sometimes wandered around half the overworld, not knowing where to go or who to

so yeah. its not hard, its just executed rather poorly. being clever doesnt solve most puzzles, using your time to collect all hints doesnt, trying it out or looking it up do. and thats dumb. the game could make many things much better.

I'm not going spoil any spoilers, for those who have played, you will realise this game is difficult and frustrating at times. There's no way to complete this game without constantly looking at a guide. There's no clues, tips or guidance in-game what so ever. I've enjoyed the game, but I hated looking back into the guides what to do next and what sticker inserts into that place. Also some of bosses were unbeatable cos sometimes you don't have that item and don't know what to use nor where it is.

If I found it frustrating, I wondered how little kids will manage that the game is aimed for. o_o

While I did have to check a guide a few times, I typically have to do that for any RPG or game with puzzles. I had to check guides constantly for the Ace Attorney series.
I don't think it was that frustrating, but there were a few times where I had no clue what to do and the solution wasn't even something easy to figure out or obvious.
I had no problems beating bosses without using the right stickers, except for one. It took a lot of stickers and time, but I still beat them in the end.

Damn, this puts me off a little. I play games to have fun, not to be frustrated.
Games should have some challenge. It's not that frustrating, the Ace Attorney series are a lot more frustrating IMO.

I think you're reading too much into this

obviously games are there for the thrill of the challenge but surely theres a limit or a line to be drawn? if a game is so unclear to the point of not giving so much of a slightest indication of what the **** you're meant to do which is the OP's opinion on sticker star, then there may be a problem

also no offence but complaining about "damn kids these days" isn't likely gonna score you sympathy

I didn't use a guide :P, and the quicksand bit, well it was obvious, and a pretty decent reference to a previous 'Mario' game too, if you knew which you'd get it.
Was nice to have a bit of a challenge with this game for once actually - kids these days, spoonfed everything, etc, etc, grumble grumble, Zzzzzzzz......

Yup, it's confirmed, the game requires a guide to be played.

Spoonfed? How is having to have had completing a prequel on another platform a reasonable prerequisite to completing a puzzle in a game?

I like it when I have trouble solving a particular puzzle in a game, because A.) It's fun to try to solve it and B.) It really feels rewarding when you actually do solve it. My brother and I had fun seeing who could beat Sticker Star first, neither of use using a guide (I won, by the way!).

Since Nintendo soiled the Paper Mario series, they figured upping the difficulty would make up for the lack of innovative ideas.
